Bar Le Scalete In Malcesine

On our first day in Malcesine we discovered this quaint little restaurant. The chef, who also waits on the guests is an absolute star, he prepares each of the 15 different pasta dishes on the menu fresh, fresh, fresh! We ate there everyday while in Malcesine, never had such good pasta before. As it comes to the table, it is simply perfect, there is no salt, pepper, or anything else on the table, you won´t need it. At first glance, this place might not look particularly fancy, but don’t let that fool you. The owner is incredibly welcoming, and the pasta was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend stopping by - it’s a true hidden gem!

Absolutely the best pastas I’ve had in ages, made by the kindest gentleman. Fully agree with all the positive reviews. We loved it so much we ate here every day. Our family feels so lucky to have found this gem!

We ate here last night as a family of four, tired and hot from a day at the lake. We were not dressed up and wanted to find somewhere laid back and unpretentious to eat. We stumbled across this little gem and could not have been happier! Super affordable food (fries €3.50, pasta starting at €8 pizza €4.50) The gentleman cooking and serving was super friendly and was the kind man who insisted on cleaning our table and told me off for helping 😂 Honestly, if you are in the area please go in and support this fabulous establishment. You will NOT be disappointed! I had the cheapest pasta and a slice of tuna pizza - both delicious! My son had the lasagne and it was divine. My husband had TWO massive slices of pizza (and finished my pasta) and my daughter had fries 😬 which were also brilliant and so affordable. With drinks our bill was under €40! We were astonished!!! There’s a reason we saw so many locals eating here (they were also really friendly and didn’t laugh at my really bad Italian) Thank you so much, we loved your restaurant, the food, service and atmosphere were brilliant. Please never close, we will be back to beautiful Italy and promise to come back and see you!

Fantastic proper local place. Antonio is a one man friendly band who does everything. Waits, cooks, cleans. Absolute legend! May have to wait a little while sometimes but worth the wait. Gem of a place and thoroughly recommend. It’s called Bar Le Scalete. PS he doesn’t speak English but gestures and Google translate go a long way. Go on, give it a go, we dare you!
