Bar Il Molo In Varenna

During winter season this is only (best) option open for diner. Food is good. Wine is lacking. Service could be better, more hospitality is better.

The view was breathtaking. The service was good. The pancakes were just okay, ask for cake of the day generally its good.

Nice little bar but nothing special.. The strong point of this place is certainly the place located in front of the lake which acts as a magnet for tourists etc. I expected better given the reviews read and the videos seen... starting from the seats where we were seated, the tables were wet due to humidity or rain but they didn't dry it well and consequently eating was really uncomfortable also due to the presence of numerous birds that eat from your plate and also shit. As for the food we were very disappointed not to mention the absurd prices. I took a plate of Valtellina pizzocheri which didn't resemble pizzocheri at all... I took them I would call pasta in broth because it was anything but that... given our negative experience, we highly doubt we will return.

The spectacular place, the live music, the views, highly recommended.

The best thing about Bar Molo is its location and terrace. Great views over the lake. The food is just ok - we ordered a risotto and a Greek salad. Though they said it would take about 45 mins for the food, it actually arrived in 20 mins. The service was just ok too. It’s clear that the servers were quite frazzled due to the number of tables and the ever growing queue of customers. Price was reasonable at €40 for two including some soft drinks.

Fantastic location by the waterfront, and the view is stunning. The rest is lower than average, but all in all worth the visit. The food was ok; good topping and bread, but way too soft for a bruscetta...Not the best service, but quite quick...A cafe/bar, not like a restaurant...
