During our six-day vacation in Catania, we went there three times. The savory and sweet treats were all amazing! A truly fantastic shop with incredibly good vegan food! 😍👌🏼

A fantastic selection of vegan treats, both sweet and savory. So far, I've only managed to try five different pastries for breakfast (with two hot drinks, €15 each, also unbeatable value), and I'm looking forward to returning for lunch!

My husband and I came here for breakfast and we were blown away by all the vegan options and also the affordable price. We got 3 desserts, 2 pieces of pizza and 2 cappuccino’s and it only came to $16. As for quality - we tried 3 traditional looking Italian desserts, and even though they weren’t personally our taste, the quality seemed very high. I think going back I would stick to the ones I know would be my favourite versus trying to have more local items. The pizza was amazing and I could have eaten it everyday of our trip. I highly recommend coming here!

Excellent and delicious traditional dishes with a vegan twist! A must-try if you're vegan and visiting Catania. I had an arancini with soy ragù, a spring onion, and a cartocciata with potatoes, olives, and vegan mozzarella: flavorful and just like the original. Finally, I tried the vanilla cannoli and a canestrello, which pleasantly surprised me; if I hadn't been so full, I would have eaten more.

Tanta varietà, prodotti freschi e buoni ma disorganizzati al massimo. Non è possibile prenotare i pezzi di tavola calda, se chiami lo stesso giorno chiedendo di metterli da parte la risposta è assolutamente no, vai al bar fai la fila, ti tiri i capelli con gli altri clienti e forse puoi mangiare il pezzo desiderato. Vi consiglio di impegnarvi di più in questi dettagli perché è davvero un peccato!

04/11/2025: We were there yesterday. The owner was very friendly and the food was fantastic. It's a very family-oriented and child-friendly place, and we even managed a short conversation despite the language barrier. We would have loved to come back after speaking with the owner yesterday to see if they were open today. Unfortunately, he wasn't there, and the employee on site informed us that they were now closed (this was at 8:25 pm – the sign on the door says open until 11:00 pm). The employee also said they would be open again tomorrow – even though the sign says "Closed Wednesdays." All in all, very disappointing – so despite our extended stay in the city, we probably won't be coming back. It's a shame, because the food was very good.

11/10/2025: I've been coming to Catania for work for five years, and Taverna del Grande Albero is a regular stop. First of all, I find quality and courtesy here, but above all, I feel like I'm at home. The owners have become like family to me. I GO TO FILIPPO'S, I say every time!!!! Always friendly, always hospitable, they never fail to chat with the customers, and I highly recommend it!! I've attached photos so you can fully understand my satisfaction. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of the spectacular seafood appetizer!
