11/07/2024: I wanted to try this place out of curiosity, since a family friend had spoken very highly of it to us. So, we decided to book a table.
Location:
- The place is quite small, but still appreciable. Modern, welcoming location, with a few seats at the counter (at the entrance to the restaurant), and then around twenty-five seats in the room. Perhaps, with noisy diners, the not too large space amplifies the noise, making the experience less pleasant.
Service-
- The service was very good. Hospitable and kind staff. Courses served at the right times, therefore well spaced. Furthermore, some dishes of the day were also offered when you had to order.
Food :
- Amuse-bouche much appreciated and also very pleasant (in my case crouton with cod cream).
- The appetizers really convinced me a lot. Both the raw fish and the hot appetizer (of the day) were really good. I recommend the mixed raw fish which is convenient because for an affordable price, compared to the other starters, you can taste tuna and sea bream tartare, then scampi, red prawn and finally an oyster. Satisfied.
- As for the starters, they were good, but not exceptional in my opinion. The quality of the products was good. But for example, the tagliatelle with red prawn and Tropea onion lacked a unique boost, a flavor that made me say "they are really excellent". There wasn't that little sauce, that binder, that united the pasta with the ingredients, in fact, in practice it was a tagliatella, with good, fine ingredients. Similarly, despite not having tasted it, but having asked for an opinion, the same situation was found for the spaghetti with seafood. It's a shame they weren't able to bring out the flavors because the quality of the products used wasn't bad at all.
- Speaking of second courses, in particular the fried ones, I can only say compliments. Crispy, light, not very greasy and very tasty. Applause for the frying, really highly recommended.
- Finally the desserts. I tasted both the sorbet and the cheesecake. Both were excellent, especially the cheesecake, exquisite.
Price :
- Slightly high prices compared to quantity and quality, but consider that we are not by the sea, and the restaurant is located in a fairly central area of Florence. All in all, the price is reasonable, but nothing exceptional.
Conclusions:
- The experience was pleasant. The quality of the products is good, as are the dishes. Portions are right, but not abundant. Prices slightly higher than what they deserved, but in the end they recovered some points with the environment and service. Satisfied but there are several details still to be ironed out.
25/06/2024: Excellent fresh fish in all variations, cooked or raw or tartare. Good choice of wines. The place is small and it is advisable to book. A real corner of pleasure for the palate. Friendly and quick service respecting the diners' times
