Outside the entrance is a leather market, inside, the first floor is lined with grocery stores, and the second floor is a food court.
The first floor boasts a wide variety of quality grocery stores, which took a while to find. I'm very satisfied with the cheese, olives, and wine I purchased here👍
The food court on the second floor was also great, offering high-quality food and a variety of vendors. The sparrows flying in were a nice bonus.

Yes, a big, huge yes. The format is the same as in many other large cities: there's a market and stalls for tastings. Upstairs, there are shared tables and a variety of culinary offerings for all tastes, occasions, and budgets.

Mercato Centrale is always a great experience! I’ve never been there when it isn’t bustling and busy, so my advice is to find a table for your party before grabbing food and drink. There are so many options for cuisines, and the drinks at the bar in the center are fantastic. Best Hugo Spritz in Florence! From the U.S.? Don’t skip the downstairs portion to buy all your friends and family seasonings, candy, and other food souvenirs. Note that the hours on the bottom floor are a bit shorter, so go earlier in the day!

After a major renovation in 2014, the second floor was transformed into a modern food hall,
making it a popular destination for sampling local specialties from all over Italy.

A vegetable, food, and restaurant market in Florence
They started building it in 1870
As part of the city's development project
Back when Florence was the capital of Italy
The building has two floors
The ground floor sells fresh produce
It was closed when I visited...
The first floor has restaurants, cafes, and buffets
The food court on the first floor is huge
I took a picture of part of it
If you can't find a reservation at a Florence restaurant, try going to the market; you'll probably find some good options 😍
I also saw they have a cooking class section 👍🏻
