We vacationed in Courmayeur, and unfortunately we only stayed at Baita Ermitage on the last night of our stay, because I'm sure it would have been our regular stop. Baita Ermitage is the kind of place you look for on a typical day in the mountains, perhaps after a long, tiring ski trip: a traditional refuge full of stories, where you're welcomed and pampered by the staff and where you can refuel with traditional Aosta Valley cuisine. Every dish we ordered had the flavor of the Aosta Valley; the portions are generous, and the price is fair for the quantity and quality offered.
The view is breathtaking at night, let alone during the day...

We came here because a friend recommended it, and I'm really happy with it! The owner picked us up at the Courmayeur Hotel and took us there. For appetizers, we had
the apple salad (excellent), the salmon trout (of the day and also very good), the tomini with chives (good), and the fondue rolls (basic, but good). For main courses, we had polenta with rabbit, polenta with mushrooms, and a paillarde, all very good. It's very easy to talk, there's not a lot of noise, and it's suitable for groups of 1 to 10 or more. The setting is beautiful, in the stone, typical of a mountain hut.
However, the desserts leave much to be desired. The tiramasu, instead of having mascarpone cream and coffee, had yellow lemon cream and chocolate. The chestnuts with cream tasted like nothing, but the warm raspberries with ice cream were very good.
Overall, the restaurant has many strong points, but one weakness: the desserts.

A wonderful place. Before (or after), you can sunbathe on the lawn next to the restaurant, on the deckchairs provided free of charge. I had polenta taragna with fontina cheese and carbonade...it was so good. The desserts and house wine were also excellent. Those who don't book can also order takeaway polenta to eat outside.

A mountain refuge located about 3 km from the center of Courmayeur. We reached this refuge on a hike on a snowy day. The very kind staff offered to pick us up with a shuttle. Lunch was excellent, especially the polenta concia and the cotoletta valdostana. We hope to return soon! Thanks, Annalisa

Beautiful lodge... we had lunch with typical local products, carefully prepared... we ate a lot and paid a fair price... a truly wonderful experience... if you're looking for a traditional restaurant nestled in the mountains, this is the place... excellent service, friendly staff. Only the desserts were a little below average, but overall excellent.

Ermitage in Courmayeur is one of those places that do exactly what they promise: they make you feel good. Beautiful views, a true mountain atmosphere, and a family-run business that shines through in every detail.
We ate divinely. For me, without exaggerating, it was the best polenta I've ever eaten: in my case, concia, creamy, and perfect. And then the brilliant (and incredibly delicious) thing is that the accompanying delicacies arrive separately, served in small cocottes: meat, mushrooms, and other delicacies that you see passing around the neighboring tables, letting you know you've chosen the right place. The charcuterie and cheese platter is also excellent, the kind that "goes away too quickly."
The service is extremely friendly, warm, and never intrusive: they make you feel at ease, like when you arrive from out of town and find the table you were expecting in a mountain setting, with friends, stress-free.
And then the finale: the raspberry tart. Sublime. With strictly homemade cream—something that silences you, in the best sense of the word.
The prices are absolutely right for the quality, portions, and setting. A place I want to return to, no question.

It overlooks Courmayeur and faces the Mont Blanc massif.
You can taste unique dishes with authentic flavors.
The desserts are excellent (chocolate salami), but don't overdo it.
