Aurora In Modena

The best seafood restaurant in Modena. Fantastic spaghetti with clams, always fresh fish. I recommend the turbot with potatoes and cherry tomatoes, mixed fried fish, sole meunière, and raw fish. The desserts, homemade by the owner, are fabulous. A good wine list with an acceptable markup. The customers, mostly from Modena, are regulars who have been coming here for years. There must be a reason... The quality/price ratio is also good. Highly recommended.

Tourists apparently not welcome. The house wine here costs €15/0.375l… at least, that's what they said with a smile when paying the bill…! The food took a very long time, but at least it was good. The waitress seemed annoyed with us, even though we were the first guests of the evening. She bumped into my wife during dinner and offered no apology. The portions were very small. It's a shame. A visit to a restaurant should leave you feeling good afterward, but here you're left with an unwelcome feeling. The chef saves the visit.

Avevo voglia di provare il ristorante Aurora per mangiare del buon pesce, cosa rara a Modena, che gastronomicamente parlando è più che altro città di terra. Ebbene, è stata un'esperienza fantastica. Hanno superato brillantemente la prova del fritto e quella del rombo. Dolci eccezionali e servizio puntuale e simpatico. Arredamento da vecchia trattoria modenese ormai introvabile (nella sua forma autentica) che ho apprezzato tantissimo. Ottimi vini del territorio (Cantina della Volta). Conto chiaramente salato ma assolutamente in linea con la qualità. Detto questo, non sorprende trovare diversi commenti negativi qui su Tripadvisor: la clientela tipica dei ristoranti del centro (più che altro composta da giovani e da turisti) oggi come oggi segue solo le mode del momento e non ha gli strumenti per apprezzare la qualità quando gli si palesa. Del resto, ce la siamo cercata: noi modenesi abbiamo voluto "Modena città turistica ed universitaria" ? Ebbene, sappiate che c'è sempre un prezzo da pagare, e nel nostro caso è la caduta libera della qualità dell'offerta (peraltro sempre più abbondante). In mezzo a questo affollato deserto che è diventato il centro cittadino, Aurora è una gemma che brilla nel buio. Speriamo che duri. Dovrebbe essere una specie protetta, come i panda.
