Antica Trattoria Suban In Trieste

A historic restaurant in Trieste, where many famous people have dined. The interior decor is a bit dated, but it has a lovely outdoor terrace. I first visited over 40 years ago. The quality has remained unchanged over the years, and it's always been run by the same family with the care and sense of responsibility that comes with carrying on such an important tradition. In addition to serving traditional Triestine dishes, they also offer many contemporary specialty options. A must-see on the beautiful Trieste hills. The quality/price ratio, in my opinion, is excellent.

If I can give 6 stars I would do it. Exceptional food experience, exceptional service, exceptional ambience. All the compliments to the cook, to attentive waiter Eric , and the rest of staff. We have been given even complimentary dishes (pancake with basil and parmesan). By far, best restaurant in Friuli region so far. We will be back definately!!! Vladimir

Having overcome a difficult time, and as promised to Mr. Mario, I booked a dinner with the family as soon as possible. The food was excellent, as was the service. The Suban family's courtesy is unparalleled. Thank you, and best wishes to your father, Mr. Mario.

Everything was perfect!! We came from Milan on the recommendation of one of our customers and had a wonderful time... delicious food and perfect service at the perfect price.

A guarantee! Fusilli with chicken, Florentine steak, and shank are simply perfect.

High expectations, low outcome. After reading several recommendations online and reviews, we were ready to get amazed by the famous Trattoria Suban. However, it soon turned out to be a more „average“ restaurant near the city. Our appetizers were pre-made, the poached egg had the typical fridge after taste and the appetizer variation was rather cold than warm and sadly not fresh made. Taste wise it was ok, but nothing extra ordinary. We had the T-Bone steak for the main, which was rather chewy as it was undercooked and not medium rare as we ordered - which we also communicated to the waitress, without real feedback sadly. All in all, we would say it was rather average for the meals we had on this day - which made us sad, because Italy/Triest has always great food to offer.

A truly charming location with a huge green pergola covering all the tables. Refined recipes and very carefully crafted dishes, but the portions are a bit small. Service is fast, but the waiters aren't always attentive to requests. The owner is also very kind, but he always tells the same story. 😅 I should also mention the cover charge, which I think is a bit high at €3 per person.

Locale impeccabile per l'accoglienza e la professionalità, ma senza eccedere nelle formalità. Il menù privilegia la tradizione triestina, curata con preziosi dettagli nell'uso di spezie per esaltarne i sapori. L'atmosfera è rilassante e piacevole. Il servizio (per quanto ci riguarda) è stato perfetto e veloce. Forse un po' troppo veloce. Le portate sono state spiegate nei dettagli. Prezzi giusti. Il valore aggiunto è il "Patron" che si aggira tra i tavoli con la sua eleganza e il suo sorriso.
