High expectations, low outcome. After reading several recommendations online and reviews, we were ready to get amazed by the famous Trattoria Suban. However, it soon turned out to be a more „average“ restaurant near the city. Our appetizers were pre-made, the poached egg had the typical fridge after taste and the appetizer variation was rather cold than warm and sadly not fresh made. Taste wise it was ok, but nothing extra ordinary. We had the T-Bone steak for the main, which was rather chewy as it was undercooked and not medium rare as we ordered - which we also communicated to the waitress, without real feedback sadly. All in all, we would say it was rather average for the meals we had on this day - which made us sad, because Italy/Triest has always great food to offer.

A truly charming location with a huge green pergola covering all the tables. Refined recipes and very carefully crafted dishes, but the portions are a bit small. Service is fast, but the waiters aren't always attentive to requests. The owner is also very kind, but he always tells the same story. 😅 I should also mention the cover charge, which I think is a bit high at €3 per person.

Memorable dinner - reservations recommended. We went for dinner at the suggestion of a colleague on August 25th. The location is beautiful, with tables under a pergola. What struck me most was the service. A waiter introduced himself, I think the manager, and immediately understood what we wanted and recommended some delicious traditional dishes. Since everything was so good, we ordered a second order of pork shank, and he also read my mind, recommending a Terrano pairing. Finally, a chocolate dessert with a glass of Verduzzo. A truly amazing dinner, we spent €90 for two, a fair price. Congratulations!!!

Location molto ben arredata, dal gusto vagamente retrò, che ispira fiducia, calore e attenzione al cliente. Lo staff è molto cordiale e professionale, l'anziano titolare si aggira fra i tavoli chiedendo feedback sul servizio. Noi abbiamo gustato un antipasto di uova con polenta, un tris di primi della tradizione triestina e un dessert a base di ananas e siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti. Buono il rapporto qualità/prezzo.
