Antica Trattoria Maria del Porto In Genova

My boyfriend and I ate here today after visiting the Genoa Aquarium. It was around 2:00 PM, so quite late for lunch, but they seated us without any problem, which we appreciated. The place is clearly very touristy, given its location right on the harbor and across from the city's main attraction, so we weren't expecting the highest quality ingredients. I had trofie with pesto, which, for my taste, was a bit too rich. My boyfriend instead chose grilled fish: you could tell the ingredients were frozen, but overall it was average and still good. Unfortunately, the dessert was quite "chemical" and the coffee wasn't the best either. We spent €54 for two: two covers, a water, a main dish each, a dessert, and a coffee. For being on the harbor of Genoa, right across from the aquarium, I'd say it's a more than fair price.

The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and welcoming. I can't say enough about the food, it was absolutely delicious, especially the trofie and the fried fish. The only thing that could be improved is the atmosphere, making it even more welcoming than it already is. I recommend everyone to go there ❤️

We found ourselves eating here yesterday. As soon as we arrived, a man from the neighboring restaurant insinuated that we had made the wrong choice. But we trusted our instincts and were greeted very kindly. The staff was fantastic. The next table had a dog. We both noticed that he was also pampered, and we were truly pleased to see such kindness. The dishes were truly delicious, and the bill was more than fair. What can I say? If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we know where we can feel at home and eat good food.
