The food is good, the owner is friendly and exudes passion and explains all the dishes to you. The only downside is the €3 cover charge (placemat and paper napkin). It's unacceptable that your dirty cutlery is removed from your plate and placed on the napkin for the next course.

My favorite trattoria in Reggio Emilia, recommended for both business and family lunches. I highly recommend the pumpkin tortelli. They also serve excellent wine and, above all, very friendly staff.

Clean place... tables without tablecloths, just placemats and paper napkins...
Tables close to each other...
Privacy = zero
I preferred it in the retro style like years ago...
There were three of us... two portions of gnocco (decent... but not the usual traditional gnocco, in fact a bit "tirone") with excellent cured meats instead...
Two really good tortelli...
Two second courses... ribs and shank... average...
A Lambrusco and two bottles of water...
No liqueurs, no desserts... no coffee
For three, 2 appetizers, 2 first courses, 2 second courses
€125.50...
We ate well... as in many other places where the bill is, however, lower.
Now, if it had said
"ANTICO RISTORANTE IL TONDO"
I would have accepted the bill, even if it was a bit high in my opinion...
But in a restaurant that goes by the name of TRATTORIA, spending more than 40 euros per person with two appetizers for three, two tortelli (22 tortelli) for three, a plate of spare ribs, and a shank of pork shank, again to be shared between three, seems excessive to me.
And if we had each ordered one appetizer, one first course, one second course, one dessert, one amaro, and three coffees... (and I excluded the possibility of ordering two bottles of Lambruso instead of one (not Amarone))....
How much would we have spent???? Minimum 70 per person... but NO!!!
P.S. Finally, the prices displayed outside are not updated to those on the menu inside...
On a positive note: while the bill isn't TRATTORIA-like, the service is... good, friendly, courteous, and pleasant.

A truly positive experience. A traditional restaurant serving Reggio Emilia cuisine. The cold cuts are highly recommended, along with their delicious gnocco fritto recipe. The desserts are also delicious, such as the tagliatelle cake, which is a rarity these days, even in traditional restaurants. The tripe is a must-try; it's spectacular! The only flaw, if it's to be found, is that the boiled meat dish, in my opinion, doesn't match the rest of the menu. The owner and staff are excellent, very kind, friendly, attentive, and always present. Truly, congratulations!
