Antica Trattoria dalla Gigina In Bologna

Outside the city center, a historic place, traditional and unique, welcoming and familiar, where you can enjoy dishes with friends or alone. A must-have.

So, you arrive and immediately enter a lovely, relaxing, and welcoming atmosphere. The service was good: the staff were polite, respectful of the customer (the service was timely), and young; I made a small mistake (certainly due to distraction) in that they took away the bread basket (still full) between courses without asking. Let's get to the food... The roast beef appetizer was exquisite; the meat was good, the dish was well-served and attractive (I recommend it). First courses... Tagliatella with meat sauce, what can I say? The ragù was excellent, not too much sauce (it didn't overwhelm the pasta), and overall excellent flavor. The tagliatelle were excellent (I imagine they were made with fresh pasta), but unfortunately they were perhaps a little al dente. The dish was well-proportioned but with a refined flavor. The tortellini in broth were fantastic: well-served, excellent to eat (highly recommended). Unfortunately, I didn't try the main course, dessert, or wine (I can't drink it in general), but given the excellent wine list provided with the menu, I imagine they must be well-made. The menu is understandable, simple, and attractive. A few flaws (nobody's perfect): inside the restaurant, I'd remove a few tables that are in the way of space and diner privacy; parking, but unfortunately there's construction work in the area for the tram; and the last sore point is the price, which is perhaps a bit too much like a restaurant rather than a trattoria. I ordered: an appetizer, two first courses, water, a 0.33 beer, coffee, and a cover charge, over €60. I'd never been there before and had been wanting to try the food for a while. I'd always heard good things about them. I'll definitely be back, as I was more than satisfied.

Welcoming, antique atmosphere, full of mirrors that add depth to the space, a trattoria that leans toward luxury and formality. Very attentive and helpful staff. The tagliatelle with ragù is excellent, as is the lasagna. The Bolognese cutlet is a bit small, but good. Prices are medium to high, as is the cover charge (3 euros). It's nice that there are some signs with directions in Bolognese dialect 😂 Parking nearby is a bit difficult.

For many years, always the best in terms of food, two flaws, one understandable, the fact that they don't accept dogs, the second much less so, after a perfect lunch they fall for the coffee, I'm afraid or rather almost certain that they don't rinse the machine between one coffee and the next, the result is a mess. It's a shame but they can fix it.

Beautiful atmosphere, courteous and friendly staff. Good, traditional dishes. Excessively expensive. I hadn't even seen a €4 cover charge yet...

It's the REAL Bolognese trattoria. Traditional good food still reigns supreme here. I've been coming here for 20 years now, every time I get the chance to visit Bologna, and it's my absolute favorite restaurant. There are definitely better ones, perhaps with more chic decor, but here, you'll NEVER be disappointed. You can eat authentic handmade tagliatelle with grandma's flavorful ragù right here. It's a shame they've inflated the prices a bit too much, in my opinion, and for two plates of pasta, two waters, and two coffees, it came to €60... I remembered the prices being more reasonable and reasonable, frankly. If we'd had wine and dessert, we'd have been above average for a trattoria... but oh well, we ate divinely, as always. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere is very refined and elegant, and the staff is super friendly. The typical dishes are very good, and the bill is reasonable. We'll definitely be back.
