Antica Trattoria da Carmine In Napoli

Sadly, I have to say: a complete downfall! I've known this trattoria for years, always coming at least once when I return to Naples. It was recommended to me by several friends who live here, and I've always had a great time. Unfortunately, this time, it didn't go that way! The food wasn't up to par. Tough grilled calamari, arugula and walnut salad, and an exorbitant price: a whole bunch of arugula cost just €1.50; you can't pay €6.50 with just a few walnut fragments! The grilled cod (soft and delicious but too salty) arrived after everyone else had finished eating; the house wine (decent but "house wine") was €14 a bottle, and most importantly: one diner asked if it was possible to have a trio of vegetable side dishes and was brought three whole side dishes, which resulted in a significant increase in the bill. In short: a decent but ramshackle dinner with one dish per person plus a side dish, water, and a liter of house wine for €35 per person. And all this in a traditional, popular trattoria that seems to be losing its precious authenticity amidst the onslaught of mass tourism. What a shame!

They were able to accommodate our large party (8) with no hesitation, which is amazing. Food was good and quick. I could've had more tomato with my caprese, but I am a tomato fiend.

We ate at Antica Trattoria da Carmine and the experience was very good, although with nuances. The food was really good: quality products, beautifully crafted flavors, and traditional Neapolitan dishes with character. A trattoria with history, and it shows. The place is cozy and full of personality, the kind of place you go to if you want something more authentic than the touristy stuff. The service was excellent, very professional, one where you know you're in good hands from the moment you sit down. 💸 Of course, the prices are a bit higher than other places in the area. The quality is good, but not necessarily much better than what you can find a 10-minute walk away for considerably less. Still, if you want to make a sure thing at a classic place, it's worth paying a little more. The only detail I didn't like was that a man came into the dining room and sang for several minutes, asking for money afterward. This may be common in Naples, but personally, it spoiled the experience a bit. In a place like this, one expects a certain tranquility. 📌 In short: good food, excellent service, and a place steeped in history. If you're into traditional Neapolitan cuisine and don't mind paying a little more, this is a safe bet.

I was in this place in the heart of Naples by chance…. Very kind and above all welcoming staff, excellent quality food, excellent value for money, what a real treat…!

One of the most beautiful experiences of my life in Naples, we started with the aubergine parmigiana, continued with penne alla Carmine and pacchero with green peppers and mussels, as a second course we tasted a delicious fried mixed seafood and anchovies, perfect dry and to finish a nice babà.

Buona esperienza in pieno centro della zona di Via dei Tribunali. Molti locali… con tanti turisti non è semplice accontentare tutti e non è semplice trovare posto. Entrati alla cieca abbiamo goduto di un buon pranzo. Abbiamo assaggiato il crocche’, la genovese e un buon spaghetto a’ vongole. Dimenticavo, buonissime le zucchine alla scapece. Servizio rapido, senza fronzoli ma cordiale. Conto corretto. Più attenzione ai bagni dove mancavano i cestini per riporre eventuali rifiuti. Buona cucina. Grazie.

Ce restaurant existe depuis 1967,et appartient toujours à la même famille,la fille vous accueille comme des amis et non des clients. On s y sent très bien ,nappes ,serviettes en tissus,tout coloré. Les plats sont locaux bien cuisinés et bien servis,on vous demande si tout va bien. Pas besoin d attendre pour avoir une corbeille de pain,si besoin,ils sont réactifs.Au sujet du pain d ailleurs lui aussi est particulièrement bon. Nous avons passé un excellent moment, comme à la Maison
