Having learned about this place on social media, I'm sad to say that, despite the restaurant's historic status, the food is truly ordinary, and the dishes are priced wildly disproportionately for the quality and what's on offer.
The ingredients were certainly good, the dishes were carefully prepared, but the price was ridiculously high.
We deliberately chose traditional dishes (rather than the lunch menu, which perhaps, in hindsight, would have been preferable): risotto Milanese, gnocchi stuffed with Taleggio cheese and sage, and a Milanese cutlet.
As for the Milanese, it was certainly good—tender, well-breaded, and gigantic—but I think €35 is truly disproportionate.
Similarly, the gnocchi were delicate, not at all heavy despite the cheese inside and in the sauce, but they were six for €20, and it wouldn't have been a satisfying dish if we hadn't ordered another dish.
Only the saffron risotto was worthy and adequate, with portions appropriate for the price (18 euros).
Result: a first course + 1 shared second course + water and coffee = 45 euros.
Essentially, an ordinary trattoria whose prices are perhaps dictated more by its history than by the quality of the food.

To be honest, we stumbled upon it by chance. I was looking for somewhere nearby, and on the map, I came across a trattoria. Seeing Milanese cuisine, we decided to go there.
The food is excellent, but the flavors lack balance.
The service is punctual, courteous, and professional.
The atmosphere isn't as refined as a historic trattoria should be.
The price is medium-high, a bit too high.

Bagutto Restaurant since 1284 - A historic gem where you can eat truly well!
Entering Bagutto (since 1284) is like opening a door in time: an authentic place with an ancient feel, where every detail exudes history and tradition. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, almost familiar, and much of the credit goes to the owner, a true institution here.
Her presence gives the restaurant a special soul: genuine courtesy, experience, and a way of describing the dishes that alone would make you hungry. A hostess from another era, passionate and attentive, who makes every customer feel as if they were entering her own home.
The cuisine is simply excellent: authentic flavors, generous portions, and quality ingredients. Traditional dishes expertly prepared, without unnecessary modern constraints; here, you eat well, period.
The restaurant is quaint, filled with objects, candles, paintings, and small details that tell a long story. And then there's the lion at the entrance... iconic! It's impossible not to notice it and smile.
Il Bagutto dal 1284 is one of those places that not only makes you eat well, but makes you feel good. A rarity.
Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.

Excellent experience, exceeded expectations. The portions were typical of a trattoria, the quality of the dishes was worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant. The service and courtesy were top-notch, and the price was in line with the quality and service offered. We'll be back soon. Thank you.
