Antica Taverna In Viterbo

We had an excellent lunch here. The place is nice and service is good. We had a cheese platter, pasta carbonara, truffle nioki, a beef fillet and a cheesecake. All dishes were excellent. Definitely recommended.

Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The food was really average, nothing special. The platter seemed to be cobbled together with supermarket products, of rather low quality. We ordered the truffle gnocchi and the wild boar ragù, but honestly, both looked unappealing, and we didn't like the taste at all. The waitress only poured us wine for the initial tasting and then left the bottle on the table without serving us, which was quite strange for a restaurant of this caliber. What struck us most was that no one asked us why we left more than half the dishes unfinished. Furthermore, the restaurant is in a basement, with no windows and no adequate ventilation. With the smell of meat and food and all the people inside, it was really hard to breathe. We won't be returning.

In a rustic setting, the tables aren't particularly welcoming due to their modest size, unlike the servings. The platter is generous and varied, with many products. The meat is excellent. It's difficult to choose between the various items on the menu, which you can admire in person. We ordered a Regina steak, unobtrusive and very tender, and a Black Prussian with a very strong flavor and an aftertaste that I didn't like. The meat, however, was very tender. With water, Coke, dessert, and coffee (no wine), 4 people €50 each. I'd say it was well spent. p.s. It's not our first time here.

Excellent steakhouse in the center of Viterbo. Delicious first courses and superb second courses. Prices are in line with the quality of the ingredients.

Amazing!!! This is the best meat restaurant in Viterbo! I didn’t have a table to sit as restaurant is very popular and requires booking, but I took takeaway, and steak 🥩 was just excellent!!!

Recommended by a friend, I booked for lunch for five people. What can I say... magnificent! The food is excellent. Quality products and a fair price. If they can maintain the same quality/price ratio, they'll be tops. Well done!
