Antica Taverna In Viterbo

We were invited by our company to review this well-known restaurant in Viterbo. The restaurant is charming and suitable for any type of dinner, from a casual gathering to a more sophisticated evening. We ordered: • an "Antica Caverna" appetizer • a beef tartare • a 1 kg Danish Florentine steak • two side dishes The tartare was truly excellent, fresh, and well-seasoned—definitely worth trying again in the future. The appetizer, however, disappointed us: it included cured meats that seemed packaged, and a selection of side dishes (dried tomatoes, mushrooms, chili peppers, eggplant, and probably zucchini) that clearly came from a jar. If you choose to use preserved products, it would be desirable to opt for better quality. The meat—the Florentine steak—was the highlight: excellent and cooked to perfection. Finally, the service was impeccable, attentive, and courteous.

Fantastic, great experience. We'll be back soon. Low prices, excellent quality. I'd also add that the staff is incredibly friendly.

We ate on Saturday 21 June 2025 for dinner and I must say it was a very pleasant surprise... apart from the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, the strong point is the quality of the food which, combined with the large quantity, make this restaurant one of the best in Tuscia! Amazing and generous appetizer of cold cuts and cheeses, meat (500g Angus sliced) cooked to perfection and definitely delicious!! Really delicious side dish of potatoes! Homemade dessert (tiramisu) definitely remarkable!!! We will be back soon and I highly recommend it!!!

Excellent restaurant in Viterbo, tasty and high quality appetizers. As for the grilled meat, it is special and the staff is very kind and helpful.

Found by chance on the internet, I took a 1 kg simmental steak and sautéed chicory. The meat was truly a pleasure, cooked to perfection, excellent flavor and consistency, so much so that next time I return to Viterbo I will definitely return. I will try other types of meat. The prices compared to other places I have been, are really competitive. I have not tried the first courses, nor anything else so I would not know, but in a place with meat like that you really do not miss it.

The service was hurried from start to finish, lacking warmth or attention. There was no willingness to speak a word of English or take the time to understand what we were trying to say in Italian. This gave the impression that tourists weren't really welcome. We ordered 1 kg of prime rib, and in the end, surprise: we were charged 1.2 kg without even warning. The waitress's response: "It's the cut," as if it were normal to impose a surcharge without discussion. It's a shame, because the meat itself was excellent—very well cooked, tasty, nothing to complain about the quality of the product. But the total lack of consideration for the customer unfortunately ruins everything else.
