Antica Pizzeria e Friggitoria Di Matteo In Napoli

The food was delicious, the pizza was very light, the frittatina is its specialty, but the price is a bit expensive.

One of the best pizzerias in Naples. Maybe the place doesn't look appealing but the pizza is delicious and they have a lot of options. Fast service, we found seats without a reservation. I recommend the faccia gialla pizza, it's delicious.

I ate it from them as soon as it arrived, the best pizza I've ever tried, it almost seems like a super light and delicious pastry.

The pizza and fried food were also good, but it's a shame about the service: while we were eating our appetizers, they brought our pizza and before we'd even finished it, they took our plates away. We still had our beer to finish, and they shooed us away, telling us to go to the register to pay; they claimed there was a line outside, which unfortunately wasn't true.

The best pizzas we have ever had. An authentic Italian restaurant with a chaotic, loud and charming atmosphere, where shouting Italian “uncles” run the floor, yet service remains fast and efficient. You enter directly through the pizza area, walking past the ovens and the men working at full speed making pizzas, before heading upstairs where the tables are. It feels less like a restaurant and more like stepping into a living, breathing kitchen. If you sit near the balcony doors, you can hear the street below with vendors, music, and constant movement, almost like a performance happening outside the restaurant itself. The pizzas are incredibly tasty and we enjoyed every single bite. Simple, but executed to perfection. The only downside is that tax is added on top of the menu prices, meaning the listed prices are not what you actually pay. A slightly annoying detail, but not enough to take away from the experience.

For takeout: The vendor wasn't friendly. The fried pizza wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. I confess I don't understand why this place has such a bad reputation. Positive points: the fried pizza was inexpensive and there was no wait.

I got a pizza fritta to go, it was good. For those getting takeout, be warned, it's a pain to eat :D However, the service is about as friendly as a prison door in France. Well, that's not friendly at all. Unfortunately, it's a constant in Naples: respect, friendliness, and customer service just don't exist here.

I don't just want to say that at Di Matteo's you get classic, authentic Neapolitan pizza, nor do I just want to say that you get probably the best macaroni frittata in the city. I want to thank the staff for their impeccable service. My husband, daughter, and son were there for lunch. When I ordered a sausage and fries, I asked if it was possible to have a slice with tomato added. The waiter immediately (rightly) pointed out that it wasn't possible. I kindly explained that my son is autistic and would only eat that, but that if it wasn't possible, it wasn't a problem; we'd just stick with the fries (my son is severely picky). They didn't add a little tomato to a slice of the sausage and fries, but the waiter showed up at the table with a mini sausage and fries pizza with tomato made especially for my son. This wasn't added to the bill. Now, Pizzeria Di Matteo doesn't need to win over customers they often know they'll never see again, and in highly renowned pizzerias with owners who live on TikTok, we've found ourselves subjected to shameful treatment for the same type of request. So for all this, Pizzeria Di Matteo and its staff deserve the highest rating we can give, for my family and I. A true icon of our city in every way. Thank you.
