A courtyard lit by a thousand fairy lights introduces you to a place that seems suspended in time. The atmosphere is that of an elegant yet authentic Lombard farmhouse, with a cast-iron stove that welcomes you more than the waiter himself. The staff is attentive, kind, and discreet: the kind of service that makes you feel like a guest, not a customer.
The cuisine alternates solidity and delicacy. Gratinated cauliflower opens the dinner with restraint and sweetness, followed by an off-menu veal tartare: balanced, well-seasoned, and pleasantly crunchy thanks to the pine nuts. The fillet with foie gras and black truffle is convincing due to its cooking and sauce, but the truffle remains too timid to truly assert itself. The Milanese-style brains, a bold and now rare dish, brings a flavor of yesteryear to the table: authentic, bold, almost nostalgic, even if the modern plating takes away some of the poetry.
The desserts tone things down slightly: the Rusumada lacks the expected zabaglione-like creaminess, while the chestnut meringue, too colorful and not very "chestnut," leaves a slightly uneven finish. The evening is lifted by the 2022 Syrah Cortona DOC, a generous and consistent wine, served at the right temperature, the ideal companion to the main courses.
The bill—€187 for two—reflects the quality, with no surprises. A place that combines roots and moderation, capable of welcoming with sincerity.
And outside, in the cold, silent courtyard, an old-fashioned parking attendant smiles: "'O core è core." And indeed, in here, the heart really does feel.

Simply the best schnitzel I've ever eaten, it's in a league of its own. The location is lovely, the tables are well-spaced.
