The food is always excellent. Sometimes some of the staff get a little too familiar. But that's okay.

I dined for the first time last night, for a friend's birthday, at this wonderful restaurant. The welcome upon entry and the kindness of the staff already hint at the wonderful experience to come. The food is exquisite (special mention for the mondeghili), the service is attentive but never intrusive, and the atmosphere is fairytale-like. I can't wait to return soon!

I visited Antica Osteria Il Ronchettino, a historic restaurant nestled in the Ronchetto delle Rane neighborhood, during the Christmas season. The atmosphere was truly magical and evocative, but the overall experience was a mix of excellence and oversights. On the culinary front, the cutlet was the absolute star: tender, juicy, and masterfully crafted, accompanied by a flavorful and well-executed mash. The mondeghili were also good, although they were small and the accompanying sauce was neither identified nor explained. The risotto with ossobuco was a sore point: the rice arrived a bit undercooked, and the gremolata was completely absent, compromising the balance of the dish. The service was the most critical aspect. While the sommelier proved highly knowledgeable and capable of managing the dining room, the rest of the staff seemed inattentive: we had to ask for water and cutlery, and the dishes were served without any description. The cloakroom management also seemed disorganized, forcing us to retrieve our jackets ourselves. The "doggy bag" policy, however, was much appreciated. In summary: Strengths: Excellent cotoletta, knowledgeable sommelier, enchanting Christmas atmosphere. Weaknesses: Inattentive wait staff, subpar risotto, cloakroom management could be improved.

Great food, but definitely too expensive

The atmosphere was beautiful and well-kept, all in perfect Christmas style, truly delightful. The dining room, with just four tables, was intimate and welcoming: it was a great place to be and the atmosphere was relaxed. Compliments to the waiters, always smiling, courteous, and professional; they made a significant contribution to making the experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, the welcome at the entrance was disappointing: the gentleman who welcomed us was cold, impolite, and almost arrogant. It's a real shame, because the welcome in a restaurant—as in any place—really makes a difference and defines the entire experience. With greater attention to this aspect, the restaurant could offer a truly excellent experience.

I had the pleasure of dining on Christmas Eve at this truly enchanting Christmas-themed restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with soft lighting. My favorite dish was the risotto with ossobuco: creamy, perfectly cooked, and rich in flavor, with the tender meat melting in your mouth. Every bite was true winter comfort. The service was kind and attentive, without ever being intrusive. Overall, it was a gastronomic and sensory experience that I highly recommend for anyone who wants to experience a special Christmas experience, even at the table.

Good food, excellent service, exciting location, BUT the receptionist was not very polite and had expressions from a provincial sports bar.

We chose this place because our out-of-town friend really wanted to eat ossobuco with risotto... and how could we not keep him company!!! Okay, we arrived at the place and Diego welcomed us into a wonderful Christmas atmosphere full of warm decorations and countless lights. He immediately confirmed that none of the six of us had ever been here before, and explained that we had arrived at one of the five oldest osterias in Milan... not bad 😁 The location is truly warm and charming. Following his advice, I started with a glass of wine. Now let's start on a positive note that makes me put this place among my best-ofs: just a few minutes after ordering, the waiter arrived with the dishes, each more beautiful than the last. My ossobuco was a dream 😋. Anyway, I'm very satisfied with the place and the quality of the food. Congratulations, and see you next time, for sure!!!
