Antica Osteria Il Monte Rosso In Verbania

My wife and I visited this place during the week for dinner. Every aspect was taken care of, from the welcome to the farewell. The restaurant stands out for its attention to detail, and the cuisine clearly demonstrates a quest for balance. The quiet atmosphere, with discreet and pleasant musical accompaniment, helped make our dinner a relaxing experience. Highly recommended if you're looking for tranquility and quality. Finally, the prices are definitely commensurate with the quality of the food.

We went out for dinner on a Sunday evening as a group of three, and it was good but not outstanding. Around €160 was a bit steep. The waiter was friendly but not professional, and the owner was rather underdressed in jeans and not particularly friendly either. The food seemed pre-prepared, which I don't expect at this price point. The antipasti was plentiful and tasty, but the main course with marinated raw prawns took some getting used to. You don't want to eat a large quantity of raw prawns as a main course. The dessert was definitely not a highlight and was just standard fare. I did appreciate the connection to the Valle d'Ossola. There were subtle references to the lake and the mountains in the menu.

Couple's Dinner A very charming and quaint venue, with knowledgeable and friendly staff. A four-course tasting menu. Wine pairings are available based on the course. The menu includes the paired wine and is priced per person (the cost). Definitely worth a try.

The menu was impeccable; the dishes we ordered were all delicious and meticulously prepared. The service was excellent, and the staff were fantastic, very attentive to the customer's needs and meticulously prepared. It's a shame about the guy who appeared to be the owner... At the end of the dinner, I went to the restrooms, while my friends, after paying the bill, sat outside. While I was washing my hands, I overheard the owner, who was sitting at the register, leaving unkind and rude comments about the entire table I was with—truly unpleasant comments that ruined our evening. Everything was perfect; the good thing about this place was having such excellent and friendly staff, but it's a shame about the owner (I assume it was the owner, since he was sitting at the register and counting the evening's takings). We won't be returning, because despite the fantastic food, the courteous staff, and despite the considerable amount of money we spent (there were only 10 of us), I would have expected not to receive such caliber and vile comments. My sincere thanks to the staff!

The food was excellent, the waiters were excellent, and the only flaw was the owner's behavior toward me and the friends I was eating with. He addressed us indirectly, using unpleasant terms, and of course, all this after we had paid the bill.

On a beautiful sunny day in November, while taking a dinghy trip to Lake Maggiore, I decided to have lunch at the Antica Osteria Il Monte Rosso in the hamlet of Suna, Verbania, right on the lakefront. The restaurant is very nice, clean, and tidy. We opted for the 18-euro set menu, which includes a small appetizer, a first course, a second course with a side dish, and fruit or dessert. For the first course, we had salmon risotto and orecchiette with anchovies and turnip tops. For the second course, pumpkin tart with fondue and roast turkey with mashed potatoes. To finish, we had the cake of the day and pineapple for fruit. Everything was truly delicious. The staff was extremely professional and prompt, even with their explanations.

Warm welcome and service. Delicious and refined dishes. A pleasant terrace with a view of the lake.
