Altrove Ristorante In La spezia

We went to Altrove restaurant on our first visit to La Spezia, and it was truly a wonderful discovery! 😊 We had a wonderful lunch; everything was delicious and well-prepared. The restaurant is very welcoming, and since it was a beautiful day, we ate outside, which was truly wonderful, in a quiet and pleasant atmosphere close to the sea. A special mention goes to the staff, who were incredibly kind, helpful, and always attentive to our needs. We immediately felt at ease. We stumbled upon this place almost by accident, and we were truly lucky! If you're passing through La Spezia, I highly recommend it. We'll definitely be back!

Let me start by saying that this place has a carefully curated wine selection, just like its dishes. I had the pleasure of tasting the homemade pesto and can say, without hesitation, that it's the best in the city. For my second course, I chose a mixed fried fish dish, which was truly excellent: dry, light, crispy, and not at all greasy. You could taste the freshness of the fish and the quality of the preparation. For my drink, I chose a Franciacorta Noir, which is as good as a Champagne. My five stars go not only to the food, but also to the welcoming atmosphere and the service, which was impeccable from start to finish. Thank you so much to all the staff for the wonderful experience.

Simply excellent! Pasta is unique

A friendly and welcoming restaurant seemingly run by some delightful young entrepreneurial people. This was the tenth dinner of a two week holiday in Italy, and our first night in La Spezia, following time in Florence, the Crete Sinese and Siena, but it was the best meal of the trip so far. The seafood gnocchi in a rich bisque, and the beef with Gorgonzola and radicchio were superb. One minor criticism: with more people these days avoiding alcohol it would have been nice to have a ‘birra analcolica’ available.

We didn't know where to go for dinner and ended up at Altrove almost by chance. It was one of those surprises that makes a trip special. Andrea and Asia served us impeccably: warm, attentive, and always with a smile. They recommended exactly which typical dishes from La Spezia to try, and thanks to their suggestions, we were able to enjoy an authentic experience, far beyond a simple dinner. Moreover, during our conversation, they told us that one of their biggest dreams is to visit Argentina, which made the encounter even more special for us. The food was excellent, but the service made all the difference. You can tell when someone enjoys welcoming their customers and making them feel at home. If you're in La Spezia, don't miss Altrove. And when you go, ask Andrea and Asia: they know exactly how to make the experience unforgettable.

Best seafood linguine we have ever had! And the service was superb. The waiter took good care of us despite the fact that a party of about 20 people arrived during the time we were there. He took good care of us and the larger party.

Pleasant and peaceful outdoor patio (no music to be annoyed by), friendly service, though somewhat stretched (we needed to get the attention of the two waitstaff a few times). Limited but varying menu. (For some reason the menu displayed by the door was an earlier menu — and several items on that were not in the new menu. Surely the menu that people look at to decide whether to come in should be the menu that’s actually on offer!) The bruschetta was unusual and tasty, the tagliatelle with ragu was excellent. We were helped to choose a Ligurian red wine (and appreciated that we were not steered to the most expensive choice but rather an inexpensive one that was very nice). The disappointment was in the main courses: a dry beef fillet (steak) and dry fish (swordfish?), with uninspired accompaniments. The dessert tiramisu was very good. Everything was nicely plated and presented.

Beautiful place to have a great meal

In a beautiful location behind the public gardens, we dined outside for two, and it was all very pleasant. The service was excellent, punctual and precise, as were the dishes... from the mussel appetizer to the pesto pasta and the cod main course. The price was in line with the quality and location. Recommended!

Altrove Ristorante was a highlight of an afternoon in La Spezia. Took a train into town to get away from the tourists in the smaller villages of Cinque Terre and it was great luck I chose this restaurant. I would return to La Spezia only to eat here. Kind and professional staff, delicious meal, pleasant atmosphere on the patio near the water. I highly recommend the filet mignon with gorgonzola and squid ink pasta with mussels.
