It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good, and our evening proved it! After being incredibly turned down by another pizzeria in the area, despite having a confirmed reservation, we stumbled upon Alter Ego in Caltavuturo... and thank goodness!
As soon as we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, but what really makes the difference here is the human factor: we found a unique kindness and helpfulness that are rare nowadays.

• Top-notch cuisine: We didn't eat well, it was more than that! Each course was carefully prepared and rich in flavor. You could taste the passion behind every dish.

A friend of mine and I decided to go to this place, both to say hello to the great chef Gesualdo Faulisi and to taste his delicious pizzas ☺️! Excellent pizza, as always 😍! At the end of the evening, before leaving, I decided to buy two of his countless products, made by him, using his own raw materials! I bought the mustard, made with wild Madonita mustard, and a package of bronze-drawn pasta, slowly dried, from single-variety Perciasacchi wheat, of which I will attach a photo! For anyone passing through this town, I highly recommend you go and taste his cuisine 🤩.

We stopped by Alter Ego after a few friends recommended Gesualdo's cuisine. Not only did we enjoy delicious food on our first night, but we also returned the second night to try the pizza, which we were extremely pleased with as well. All this was complemented by Gesualdo's friendliness and his invaluable advice. Every time we pass through Caltavuturo, Gesualdo's restaurant will be a regular stop!

Get off the beaten track, visit this lovely town and do not forget to go to this restaurant! They produce almost everything (including grain for the pasta, pizza and desserts!) themselves. Interior is modern, the staff knows a lot about their food, you’ll meet some unique Sicilian dishes and ingredients. It’s honest and delicious and it won’t cost much. Buon appetito!

For our menu we followed the chef's wise advice, without any regrets on the contrary, tasted his homemade mustard which would make many people in Dijon envious, all washed down with a delicious family-produced red wine (fois de Bourguignon). All made with local products, I would like to point out.

Great Chef and great passion of Gesualdo Faulisi. A dish told is much better than a dish eaten. In love with his work he transmits to you passion, experience, taste, history, products and production (made by him). He deserves a lot and gives us so much to taste all his products, some exaggeratedly with ancient flavors like the carob and cooked must dessert.
