Alte Post In Termeno sulla strada del vino

We happened to be at the Alte Post in Tramin for lunch and were absolutely delighted. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. The menu was small but exquisite, featuring typical South Tyrolean cuisine with an Italian flair. Everything was presented at an unusually high and refined level. Even the drinks, like the homemade bergamot lemonade, were unconventional. And the desserts, too. Who would expect to find licorice ice cream affogato in a traditional inn?

We stopped here for lunch on a recommendation. The small and charming premises are very inviting in dry weather; the front and back terraces, as well as the interior with its bar, are all very attractively designed. A small, refined lunch menu whetted our appetites for what followed: homemade bread and pasta, exceptionally fresh ingredients, well-seasoned dishes, and several delightful surprises for the palate, such as caramelized walnuts, fermented cabbage, and spicy roasted zucchini cubes. The issue of celiac disease is handled with ease (the owner herself has it and is very knowledgeable—almost all dishes can be prepared gluten-free). The service is very attentive and always available, even when the restaurant is full. However, advance reservations are recommended. The wine list is very well-curated, featuring many local specialties, and the owner is happy to provide suitable recommendations to complement the dishes upon request. We enjoyed it so much that we returned for another dinner. The equally fantastic evening menu perfectly complemented the beautiful evening atmosphere with its relaxed lighting and view over the historic village center.

Excellent cuisine and very attentive service; we spontaneously came here for lunch and were delighted!

Beautiful little restaurant with a romantic terrace overlooking the market square. Food was very good and served on stylish modern dishes. What I did not like is that there was no menu for beverages which made me slightly uncomfortable: I always like to know the prices before ordering.
