This was to celebrate my birthday and the place felt cool and well appointed. It was lunchtime on Labour Day, so a national holiday. All was going reasonably well till my wife was advised that the Caponata was not available and she might like the fettucine con vongole. When this came it was apparent that most of the clams remained shut. Our waiter advised us this was fine. We said it wasn’t and shortly a cup of open clams came to our table. An apology came at the end of the meal.
This is a reasonably prestigious restaurant and we would not have expected the dish to be allowed out of the kitchen.
