Five stars for the food, with a generous and varied menu ranging from meat to fish, featuring traditional Trieste dishes and more.
Unfortunately, the service is lacking. This traditional Osteria, established in 1955, has numerous patrons at the counter, which takes up the kitchen and dining room staff's time. The atmosphere is welcoming, with wood furnishings and furnishings perfectly suited to this type of establishment, but unfortunately, the large number of patrons at the counter takes up space in the dining room (we had a table near the entrance in front of the counter, with people standing near us) and also creates confusion. Therefore, don't expect a quiet atmosphere; it's a bit chaotic.
The food makes up for the above.

Informal, welcoming atmosphere, typical of a trattoria in the center of Trieste.
The food is spectacular, both meat and fish; you can't go wrong.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
The beers and wine selection are also excellent.

A typical, characteristic restaurant with excellent cuisine. One of the owners, Gianni, is an exceptional chef who makes cooking his passion. The whole experience can be rounded off exceptionally well. An experience worth repeating.

If you go to one restaurant during your stay in Trieste go to Alla Bella Trieste! I had one of the best meals ever in my 64 years. This is what you could describe as a wine bar (without the 90's London connotations). I counted in excess of 100 wine choices in this simple restaurant which has a wood- clad walled mountain hut vibe. We hadn't booked but the friendly and accommodating staff found us a table for two. The ravioli was superb and my Argentinian steak with sauté potatoes was sublime. Two courses of the best quality food, glass of wine and a bottle of fizzy water for 43€ in total!! Bonkers!

A restaurant a short distance from the center, which is not expensive. The food here is mainly Italian cuisine, which is different from other restaurants in Trieste. Carbonara is a truly luxurious dish that I recommend. Of course, you can also find dishes associated with Slovenian culture (Ljubljanska pljeskavica).
The service is nice, the kitchen is semi-open. Beautiful environment with a typical Italian touch. If you like the smell of cheese and mature salami, this is the ideal place for you.

Best trattoria in Trieste! The food and wine are amazing. The mussel and clam soup is pure comfort food, and the pasta? You just can’t leave without trying it! The cheesecake is a must too. It feels like home here, and we’ll definitely be back
