Alcova del Frate In Verona

The waitress who welcomed me and the food itself were the best I got from this place. She told me about the traditional Veronese dishes served at this restaurant. I listened to her recommendations and got gnocchi, was very good paired with a glass of local white wine. On the other hand, the waiter who served me was not nice at all, I would say one of the worst I've encountered. The cherry on top was the bill. There was 4 x Copertos on the bill, which is 16 euros in total (I was just one person). When I told him about it, he looked at me a certain way and then immediately switched the bills (as he already had another one printed). I don't think it was just a mistake, I strongly believe he did it on purpose, as afterwards he just asked me where am I from (as in to know what nationalities are easier to scam or I don't know what else😅), and then left me at the table.

During Fieracavalli, I had the opportunity to come to Verona and discover this gem on Ponte Pietra... excellent quality ingredients, a refined wine list, and an intimate, welcoming location. The owner, Max, is a delightful person and an exceptional wine connoisseur, and was able to recommend some excellent bottles.

I've been to Alcova del Frate and I was thrilled! An intimate venue with meticulous attention to detail, the staff is kind and attentive without ever being intrusive. The Amarone risotto is simply exceptional, one of the best I've ever tasted in Verona, and the wine selection is impeccable. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a special evening.

The food is divine, perhaps the prices are a little high but justified by the service and the quality of the food.

Sunday lunch with friends, everything was great. Prices are a bit high, but the quality of the food and location makes up for it.

After years, it's still a fantastic place. Excellent food, attentive service, and courtesy. Definitely worth a try! Thanks guys!

We have been in Italy 2 weeks now and had some amazing meals but this is the pick of the bunch. Traditional Verona cuisine that was just so tasty. Service was exceptional. Great value!

We stopped for a beer and coffee, and Massimo was a wonderful host. We didn't eat anything, but the dishes looked delicious! He gave us recommendations on typical Verona food.

Most amazing food and unique wines. Would def recommend.
