One of the must eat places when in Milan, according to Mark Wien in his famous episode about best food in Milan. I say hell yeah, I am 100% with Mark. My order of Occobuso is a symphony of bone marrow, meet, cartilage and fat mixes in with cheese flavor of risotto. My wife ordered tagliatelle with mushroom; this too is a perfection. So if you plan to go to Milan, this place should be in your itinerary

I went to this place with a group of friends... a nice and characteristic place. The food, for several courses, did not meet our expectations. What we found unacceptable (in a place where the cover charge costs €4.00, the same price for a bottle of water), is going to the bathroom at the beginning of the evening to wash your hands and there being nothing to dry them with, as well as not finding toilet paper in the middle of the evening. In a place where the average cost was €50.00, to dine with one and a half courses each, and we're not talking about fillet, two bottles of wine for ten people, it shouldn't happen.

I recently had dinner at Trattoria Al Matarel, a true jewel of the Milanese tradition, and despite the fair period (with the place full), the service was kind and surprisingly fast. An authentic experience, where Milanese cuisine is celebrated without compromise.
The dishes are carefully prepared and respectful of tradition, with top quality raw materials. My dish, Ossobuco, meaty, succulent and accompanied by an impeccable yellow risotto.
The place is a blast from the past: colorful chandeliers, period paintings and pink tablecloths create a familiar and nostalgic atmosphere. The room, although with slightly narrow tables, retains the charm of the 1960s, when politicians and artists were at home.
The staff, courteous and discreet, add value to the experience. The prices are fair for the quality offered and justified by the location (heart of Brera) and the historicity of the place.
Advise? Absolutely yes, especially for those who want to taste the Milan that no longer exists, with dishes that tell the story of the city. Ideal for dinners with friends or special occasions.
PS: If you meet Mrs. Elide, chatting with her is a journey into Milanese gastronomic memory!.

Absolutely incredible mushroom pasta!! The best I have ever had! Skip dessert, I had an apple pie that was pretty tasteless but the main was so good that this place is still a 5 star!

Personale gentile e locale carino.
