Even though it was a busy situation (work-wise since it was a Saturday) the orders never took forever to arrive, the waiters were very friendly and helpful.

This is my favourite pizzeria in Rome - I won't go anywhere else. I love the fact that you can get traditional pizzas as well as something out of the ordinary. Their cakes are to dies for especially the carrot cake and the mud pie. The service is excellent! The venue is wonderful and the food is fantastic - and that's an understatement!

We had two wonderful evenings at Al Grottino and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Toni, his lovely sister, and the entire team made us feel incredibly welcome from the very first moment. The pizza and pasta were absolutely fantastic – truly some of the best we’ve had – and everything else we tried was just as delicious. You can really taste the quality and passion in every dish. What made it even more special was the warm, family-like atmosphere. It felt less like visiting a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. A true hidden gem in Rome – we would come back anytime!

We've been here twice now and keep coming back because the dishes and appetizers are truly high-quality. The Amatriciana pizza is fantastic, and the cacio e pepe pasta is a flavor that lingers in the memory for a long time. We've eaten at many places in Rome, so we have something to compare it to—and yet we're always happy to return to this restaurant. This place has a more local than touristy feel, which only adds to its charm. The prices are very reasonable, the service is fantastic, and the atmosphere is incredibly romantic. A huge shout-out to the owner, the chefs, and the entire staff—they do a fantastic job! ❤️

10/05/2026: I frequented it during my daughter's time at Sapienza University. Quality food, based on the classic "big four" of Roman cuisine (Amatriciana, Gricia, Carbonara, and Cacio e Pepe), a friendly, informal atmosphere, and a good price.
13/02/2026: If you're looking for a real, non-touristy place where they cook great food, this is the place for you.

15/05/2026: A lovely spot just steps from the Trevi fountain. Food was excellent (carbonara, bolognese and pistachio pasta), with friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend. Thank you for a great meal for our family’s last night in Italy!
