Al Cantagallo In Giovinazzo

A pizzeria that makes very good dough. It offers a wide variety of pizzas. There's a garden inside, large enough to accommodate several tables. The only downside is the ugly roof over the garden.

The menu has some very interesting options. I ordered the Mare Murgia pizza with octopus and potato cream. It's a great combination of flavors, and the octopus is meaty, not rubbery – well worth the price! I highly recommend it! 💜

A very pleasant evening in the splendid setting of Il Cantagallo, a restaurant that retains all the authentic charm of the seaside village of Giovinazzo. The location is welcoming, well-maintained, and perfect for a relaxing dinner with friends or as a couple. Regarding the food, it was a decidedly positive experience: the octopus was excellent, well-cooked, tender, and flavorful, beautifully presented without being overdone. The eggplant was also truly excellent, simply prepared yet rich in flavor, one of those dishes that truly leave a lasting impression. Carefully selected ingredients and a cuisine that focuses on quality without distorting traditional flavors. Prices are in line with the quality offered and the location: the bill was fair and consistent with the overall experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, although during the Saturday evening service, it felt rushed. The only less positive aspect of the evening was an incident related to the service: the waiter, while quickly serving a pizza, accidentally ended up staining my friend's pizza. This certainly happens during busy times, but it's an aspect that deserves more attention because service, even at the busiest times, remains a fundamental part of the experience. Overall, a very pleasant dinner and a place I'd happily recommend.

I stumbled upon it by chance because it was close to the B&B where I was staying. A lovely surprise. The Materana pizza was excellent, although a bit "challenging"... when you call it a one-dish meal!!! A nice draft beer, followed by a dessert (brought up to temperature with a quick trip to the oven!) and a house liqueur!! The price was absolutely in line with the amount of food! Helpful and friendly staff. WELL DONE!!!

I'm writing this review after much thought. I don't like writing negative reviews, but this time I can't help but. I went to Cantagallo a week ago with a group of friends. There were six of us on a Saturday night. We arrived at 8:30 PM, as scheduled, and were seated right away. After ordering, we had a relatively short wait for our food. Our appetizers were brought to us, followed by our pizzas in a timely fashion. I particularly appreciated the use of top-quality ingredients and the pizza. I ordered a plain one with zucchini and mortadella, and I quite liked it. What made me decide not to return? The service. Truly awful. The waiter, a man in his sixties, was excessively hasty and rude. He literally threw plates and cutlery at our table, and every time he arrived with a new course, we were afraid he'd hit us with plates or glasses in his haste. And it was only nine PM! I've worked in the restaurant business for years, and I understand there can be hectic times, but that attitude, which continued throughout the evening, was truly annoying, so much so that it made us leave without even ordering dessert.

Fantastic experience! The pizza is among the best I've ever had, with excellent dough and ingredients. The appetizers are also delicious and carefully prepared. The service is extremely friendly and makes you feel right at home. Highly recommended!
