Ai Vicoli In Trento

Beautiful location, very friendly staff and excellent food!

We chose Ai Vicoli for our first evening in Trento. Unfortunately, we hadn't noticed that the restaurant didn't open until 7 p.m. and arrived at 6 p.m. Luckily, the attached wine bar, which opens at 6 p.m., was offering a special TrentoDOC Fest offer, so we were able to sample three different TrentoDOCs as an aperitif. The service and food were fantastic. We highly recommend Ai Vicoli!

An excellent restaurant with elegant furnishings in a modern and very clean ambiance, set in the historic flair of a traditional house in the center of Trento. Well-selected wines, excellently prepared dishes with a blend of Mediterranean and southern Alpine cuisine, and very friendly and competent service.

We had an excellent lunch experience at AI VICOLI during the Trento Doc Festival. We sampled a "French" Black Angus tartare and a carne salada, both excellent. This was followed by the classic beef goulash served with Storo polenta, which in my opinion was the best goulash I've had in Trento (I'd also had it at two other restaurants). For dessert, the thick-crust apple strudel paired with a fantastic (very delicate) vanilla sauce. CHAPEAU. The presentation of the dishes was also beautiful. The restaurant has a mezzanine level, while the lower area is furnished with high tables and stools, and a large counter also with stools. The wooden furnishings are elegant and not "heavy." Special mention goes to the staff, who welcomed us with courtesy and professionalism, also advising us on the wine selection (in addition to the sparkling wines). We drank a "MassettoDue" Teroldego Cabernet delle Dolomiti, fruity and elegant...fantastic! We loved Ai Vicoli and returned that evening for a lighter dinner featuring a platter of cured meats and cheeses accompanied by a delicious chutney (sweet and sour sauce) and, of course, strudel. The idea of ​​stopping at this restaurant with its adjoining wine cellar was a perfect fit because the chef's offerings and wines are worth stopping to enjoy. The wait staff is courteous and knowledgeable.
