05/12/2025: Focacceria Il Frantoio is kind of hiding: tucked in a narrow alley off the main drag, but you’ll smell that fresh-baked focaccia the moment you walk nearby. Even if you don’t see the sign, follow your nose. Inside the little place, there are only a handful of tables, so most people grab a slice and go.
They do those classic Ligurian-style focacce: some round like pizzas (but no sauce) and some square or rectangular slabs. The difference is more than shape, focaccia isn’t pizza. It uses dough with more leavening, so it stays thicker, softer, and airier than typical pizza crust, and it gets dimpled and drenched in olive oil before baking. Because of that, the focaccia from Il Frantoio feels pillowy inside but still crispy at the edges — perfect base for whatever topping they throw on.
Go for a classic plain‑olive-oil slice if you want something simple and salty. Or, if you’re up for a punchier flavor, try their anchovy version: salty, briny, and made for a beach‑town afternoon. Honestly, it’s the perfect snack to grab before hiking to Vernazza — light, filling, and full of energy for the climb.
Bottom line: Focacceria Il Frantoio isn’t fancy. It’s small, kind of hidden, and not Instagram-flashy. But if you want a genuinely good bite of Ligurian comfort food, warm focaccia, salty anchovies or olive-oil-rich crust, handheld and cheap, this spot hits exactly right.

27/10/2025: Our AirBnB host recommended we eat here for good pizza and it was great! We shared a delicious pepperoni and sausage pizza. The staff were friendly and the food came out quickly!

27/10/2025: Ely has been our "pizza night" place for years and we really enjoy it. Occasionally we have other things and this year we had one of their pasta daily specials, a ravioli perhaps with truffle and burrata (sorry it was 1 1/2 months ago)……omg, it was so amazing. Though it is no longer on the menu, we also appreciated them making the mussels in white wine and lemon.

27/07/2025: Pedimos alguns pratos como Ravioli e Massa com frutos do mar e estava tudo tão fresco e delicioso ,vale muita a pena a visita !
26/07/2025: Ristorante pizzeria in una via un po fuori dal centro di monterosso con un menù a base di pesce e qualche altro piatto ed è pure pizzeria.
Ho mangiato una insalata di polipo eccezionale gustosa e abbondante accompagnata da una vellutata di patate buonissima.
Poi trofie con pesto e patate veramente buone.
Peccato per le cozze ripiene da cui mi aspettavo di più in quanto si sentiva solo il ripieno molto abbondante e le cozze così sono sparite. Peccato perché avrei dato volentieri il punteggio più alto

03/10/2025: I didn't eat here, but getting on in age I found myself in the embarrassing situation of a desperate need to use a toilet.
The restaurant was virtually empty when I made my request. A young girl turned me down , three times despite my pleas . 🥺 . Luckily I managed to get to the next restaurant. A very bad experience
02/09/2025: We stopped at this establishment as soon as we arrived in Monterosso…the food was decent but nothing exceptional…the prices were above average…

03/05/2025: Ottima pizza, ottimo locale e ottimo servizio. Ho trovato i colori stupendi dell’interno del locale, il personale molto cordiale e gentile. Se passo da Monterosso tornerò a mangiare qui.
28/04/2025: Perfetto per una serata informale in un locale gradevolissimo. Cucina con chef eccellente e personale gentilissimo e simpatico. Cibo ottimo.
