18/12/2024: Listen! Listen! Listen! The other evening, together with friends, I went to dinner at the "" ..... "" Mexicali restaurant in Lecco. While we were taking our seats, we noticed that our table - already set - was wobbly, so we folded one of the napkins appropriately. of paper, already present on the shelf, to place it under a leg of the furniture and block its instability. We had never done this! The waitress - with a watchful "hawk's eye" - noticed the dangerous maneuver and rushed to give us a joke like the one reserved for children caught with their fingers in the jam jar. He then concluded by warning us that the cost of the napkin was 20 cents/euro and left us relegated to the "bad guys" corner, keeping a threatening cloud of adequate economic retaliation hanging over our heads, at the bottom of the final bill. In reality this did not occur, nor did anyone take steps to "arrange" the table by affixing some providential "wedge", but I think it is worth pointing out the edifying lesson of correctness, kindness, efficiency, repulsion to waste and professional sensitivity that was imparted to us in the circumstance.
