13/09/2025: It was our first night in Bologna, we were tired, and we wanted a quick bite to eat. My husband is Mexican and loves to see what people around the globe do with his cuisine. We saw Sombrero and headed straight there!
It was quiet when we arrived, which truly was unfortunate because everything about this place - the people, the atmosphere, and especially the food - was wonderful.
We started with the red jalapeños and chili nachos and both were just incredible. And the guacamole, oh my god. It was so fresh but I should definitely expect that in Bologna.
My son ordered the grilled chicken burger and fries and it looked wonderful. My son was very happy with it and very full.
My husband and I both got variations of a rice dish (I can’t remember the name, sorry) and it was delicious. The owner, who was very welcoming and kind, even made sure I got enough vegetables with my food.
We also got tacos which were TO. DIE. FOR. So incredibly delightful.
I was so full I could hardly walk when we left. What a lovely meal.
I feel like Mexican food has been ruined for me though because now, I know the very best Mexican food is right here at Sombrero in Bologna, Italy!

16/09/2025: Extremely overpriced for what you get. I paid 42€ for one person, and the food was of very low quality. Absolutely not worth it. Save your money. NOT recommended.

05/09/2025: So a half-dark place, a pissed-off waitress, it seems like she's doing you a favor by serving... you must be a real food lover, very heavy and in my opinion prepared well in advance, otherwise the meat can be so tasted that it's not fresh, recently cooked, not worth going back for...
25/08/2025: We arrived at 7 pm on Sunday. The place was very dark, and it was hard to tell if it was dirty or not, given its eternally green look. A not-so-friendly waitress seated us at our table and then waited on us until the end of the evening. We ordered chicos y guacamole and two beef fajitas. The meat was definitely not for sensitive stomachs; it seemed marinated, a bit tough, and the guacamole was sour. Finally, a mix of very good desserts. That same evening, diarrhea and vomiting occurred; we won't be returning.

27/07/2025: My husband and I usually go here when we want pulled pork because it's very good. Lately, however, the portions have been smaller than usual and the prices have gone up. This is also because the side dish is no longer included like it used to be, but is paid separately. Yesterday, we must have been unlucky, but the fries were very dry and less flavorful than usual.
The service was good, and aside from the fries, the food was all good.

17/07/2025: I visited this restaurant recently and, unfortunately, I have to report a significant problem: the heat was unbearable. The clerk, visibly sweating with beads of water on her forehead as she prepared the orders, was a noticeable detail, especially in a restaurant with an open kitchen.
The only solution was a fan, but I wonder if it's really legal to have a fan running in a food preparation area: dust, hygiene, and safety should come first.
It's a shame, because the food wasn't bad, but such a hot, unhygienic environment ruins the experience. I hope they do something about it, because adequate air conditioning or better ventilation would make the experience much more pleasant (and hygienic!).

10/05/2025: 40 minuti ad aspettare gli stuzzichini. Chiediamo alla cameriera come sono messi, e ci dice “sono ad 1/3 dell’ordine, ci vorranno ancora 25 minuti”. 22:45 di sera, una roba indecente.
08/03/2025: Cibo tutto da rivedere,il cibo messicano è tutt'altra cosa rispetto a ciò che si è mangiato in questo locale e le bevande, Sangria, mojito e margherita, sono imbarazzanti, come sono imbarazzanti i costi che non valgono quello che si pagano. La sangria sembrava un succo di pera allungato con un pessimo vino rosso... Mojito e Margherita.. Beh, per farla breve hanno solo il nome e basta. Pessima esperienza.
