Wasabi Sushi Fusion
Tortolì
14/01/2025: August evening with the whole family. Good and fun!
18/08/2024: The staff was friendly throughout, but the kitchen was quite slow; we were the only two in the restaurant. I don't know what the service would be like when the restaurant was full...
We're used to eating sushi, since we love it, and the truth is, we were a little disappointed with the quality and price. We expected more flavor and more elaborate dishes.
We normally find this kind of quality at buffets with special offers, which are quite typical in Italy, and not at a place without this type of menu and with mid-to-high prices.
We ordered some tacos (at this place, they prepare them with crispy corn tortillas). They had a bland flavor and didn't come with any special toppings or salsa. I don't usually like those types of tacos because they're quite messy, as the contents spill out when you eat them.
We didn't order desserts, so I can't rate them, as it was almost 2:30 p.m., and we don't like to go past closing time so the staff doesn't have to work overtime.
The place is nice, although somewhat gloomy, and the location shown on Google Maps is incorrect, as the place is currently on a different, more main street.
In response to the owner:
We know there were different options offering different types of sushi, but none of them convinced us in terms of price and variety of sushi they served (by menus, we mean a set menu of x dishes with drinks included and desserts, which some restaurants offer for x amount of price). Likewise, no, we didn't think the price was bad, as we're used to eating at gourmet restaurants and sushi places where we've happily paid €150. In this case, the bill was about €63, and I, personally, given the number of sushi places I've been to in different countries, consider it a somewhat high price for the quality and variety of products you offer, since the dishes I've eaten at various €20 per person sushi restaurants throughout Italy are very similar (restaurants whose reviews you can see on my account). You can also see in my reviews of much more expensive sushi places we've been to, and the reviews are higher, since the price-quality ratio is comparable.
And given the number of times we've had sushi and the number of places we've been to, I think I can say when a sushi dish has something special and deserves to be paid accordingly. We've been to spectacular places with incredible preparations, one of them on the island itself, in Arzachena. (Sushi rice should be creamy, the pieces shouldn't fall apart, the fish should have few veins, be tender, and melt in your mouth. Tacos of this style usually come with some kind of creamy sauce so the bread doesn't get soggy and gives more flavor...)
Everywhere we've gone for sushi, except for takeaway stands in supermarkets, they offer the sauces and wasabi for free, which is appreciated. But what doesn't seem logical to me is that you offer them for free and then if someone then leaves a mediocre review, you hold it against them or emphasize it. If you think there should be a charge for sauces, that's your right, but if you offer them for free, don't use it as a reproach if the review isn't 5 stars.
I don't consider the location information to be a negative thing, since we called you and you explained the street to us without any problem. It's simply information so that the next people who go to eat at the restaurant know that it's no longer in the same location, so they don't think it's closed, which is what happened to us, to the point where I even thought I had called the wrong number when I called to make the reservation.
