A corner of paradise in Bologna! Stepping into Zucchero a Velò is like stepping into a magical and welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast is superb: their desserts are not only beautiful to look at, they taste authentic. The staff is always smiling and friendly. I don't understand what happened to this place. It used to be a popular place to go, with a wonderful atmosphere, unique and delicious dishes, and great attention to detail in the service and menu. I returned months later and found none of this, not to mention very few people, even though it was usually packed (and it was a Saturday night). Even the online menu has disappeared, and the official website has literally become a malicious spyware. I'd be interested to know if this is a temporary situation, if there's been a change in management, or if there's a plan to close permanently (which is strange considering the other two places, both in Ancona).

I'm still giving it 4 stars, confident that this is just a passing fad and that the old-fashioned zav will return, where when the food arrived, our eyes would widen and it was always a wow. I went on Monday for lunch... the food was good... but it arrived cold... the dishes were basic and smaller in portions. The magic that once distinguished it has been lost a bit.
I'll be back to see if it's really changed or if it was just a bad day.

Well... objectively, it's undoubtedly a nice, different and alternative place that stands out from all the others in terms of the quality of its food and its offerings. But the service is terrible, the staff is unwelcoming and not very friendly, and that's a real shame. Plus, the prices are really, really HIGH. I spent €12 for breakfast with a cappuccino and a slice of cake.
