I'd heard this pizzeria was the "next level" in the area. One of the best gourmet pizzerias in Lucca and Pisa. I arrived on a Saturday evening, having booked for five, and found a reservation for three. Somehow, the owner got us a seat. We ordered four pizzas and a flatbread. The flatbread arrived twenty minutes after the pizzas, "because flatbread is cooked differently." The ingredients were good, in line with other pizzerias of the same standard, and the prices were above average. The draft beers were ordinary. Digestion wasn't the easiest thing that night.

We've been to this pizzeria several times for birthdays and friend gatherings. The last time, however, was truly forgettable. The pizza was good, but nothing memorable, and it was also very small. The prices are unjustifiable, and in my opinion, they're decidedly excessive. An €18 pizza for cherry tomatoes, zucchini flowers, and lard is a complete rip-off. The wait was long, and the service lacked some thoughtfulness. The cover charge was €3, and there wasn't even a tablecloth on the table.

The restaurant enjoys a certain reputation in Pisa, which is why I decided to try it. The service was quick and attentive, with the option of inside or outside seating—where, fortunately, smoking is prohibited. The ingredients and toppings are certainly high-quality. However, while I recognize its value, the pizza didn't wow me personally.

Hands-down the best pizza in the area - better than Apogeo and miles ahead of Ventola. Zenzero delivers a bold twist on the Neapolitan template: the dough is rich and even lightly crisp, yet never slips into fried-dough greasiness. Toppings are generous but stay in harmony with the base, adding depth without drowning out the flavour. A pure, indulgent pleasure.

I returned to this high quality pizzeria after 6 years. The funny thing is that I live nearby, but as often happens, more distant and exotic destinations are preferred to those you have at hand. However, after having noted the maintenance of the quality level of the raw materials, the excellent dough and the perfect leavening, Zenzero will certainly become my reference pizzeria in Pisa. The pizzas are light, almost ethereal, and are topped with maniacal attention. It is a spectacle to see the pizza chefs at work preparing and baking their creations. In the previous review I had some doubts about using a non-wood oven. I must say that I have removed any doubts about this. Indeed, the particular gas oven used makes the pizza more interesting almost as if it were fried. All the proposals, both on the tasting menu and those à la carte, are of an excellent level. The draft beers offered are very good. The prices are medium-high, but in line with the quality of the final product. Zenzero is not your typical pizzeria, but I recommend it especially to those who want to enjoy a light and expertly topped pizza.
