Excellent cold dish, dessert and even blackberry juice

We were craving a really good piece of meat and decided on the Winklerhof in Partschins. The farm was first mentioned in the 13th century. We were recommended a 1.1 kg T-bone steak, thankfully served with fried potatoes and vegetables instead of fries. And... we can only say, wow! For dessert, we had cinnamon mousse with plums. Absolutely recommended.

An absolute insider tip! The food is superb, the coffee and cakes are just like Grandma's, and you can buy local farm products. The view from the terrace is fantastic, and the rooms are incredibly cozy, like something out of the 1920s.

Everything was perfect here. The food was delicious. The cinnamon mousse with plum kernels was a highlight. The service was very friendly and the dining rooms were cozy. If you're hiking, you can burn off some of the calories right away, as it's quite a climb.

We went for dinner again today and were simply thrilled. The service, staff, and ambiance are a clear 5 out of 5. The food, especially the desserts, are a 6 out of 5 (even if that's not possible).

We've now eaten at the Winklerhof twice. On our first visit, we were absolutely thrilled: the roast beef was cooked to perfection, the roast potatoes were the best we've ever eaten, and the carpaccio was also outstanding. Only the soup wasn't quite to my taste, but overall it was a real highlight. We returned with these impressions on the last evening of our stay – unfortunately, this time with mixed results. The most expensive red wine on the menu was served significantly too cold, the roast beef was only lukewarm, and the roast potatoes had little to do with "roasty." The seat by the doorway to the kitchen was also less than comfortable, despite having reserved in advance. That was a shame, as we had planned the evening with high expectations as a pleasant end to the evening and left somewhat disappointed. We would like to emphasize, however, that the manager took our criticism seriously and waived the main course for us. A snarky "I'll excuse you if you didn't enjoy it" in response to a very constructive criticism didn't make up for the evening. We understand the stress and criticism. But we did talk about the direct comparison. And mentioned our unfulfilled expectations. Please note: We still paid €40 for the main course in cash, as we felt this gesture was very fair and it was important to us to properly appreciate the meal. Overall, we're left with a mixed impression: one a spectacular experience, the other rather mediocre. We hope that next time it will reach the quality of the first evening, because the potential is undoubtedly there, as the junior manager also conveyed to us. We still extend our sincere thanks...but unfortunately, we can't award 5 stars for such different evenings! --
