Excellent walk with a visit to a salt mine in the company of a very helpful and knowledgeable guide. Gerardo showed us several birds, gave us explanations and explained the processes of salt processing. Just OK

We got there by taxi, it's a long ride, but in my opinion it's not worth it. There's nothing to see. The entrance to the museum costs 5€, but there is no museum, or we didn't understand what was worth seeing, the entrance to the salt pools costs 3€, the route takes 5-10 minutes. It took longer. But the Erice funicular offers great views of the salt pools.

We walked there from Trapani, as there is a footpath but be advised it is mostly overgrown with weeds, although not to the extent to make it impassible. Be also aware that you cannot just go and walk around the salt pans. You need to book a guided tour ahead, as the area is normally closed to tourists as you may damage fragile ecosystems by walking along the sides. Something to note as well, there is a small shoo near the main mill on the road that gives information and sells normal salt and fluer de sale....very sought after in cooking.

I thought it was very beautiful. But we didn't take a tour, so unfortunately we didn't learn how it's run.

10/07/2025: "Fritto di mare" became, who knows, "fritto di mare con verdure." And inside, there were vegetables, but the peaches—just crumbs that accidentally fell inside.
05/07/2025: My wife and I had to "unplug" from work. While I was searching online for a place to spend the long weekend of May 1st, I booked at the Millepini hotel in Marina Romea, arrived around 11:30, we asked where the seafront was and headed towards it. We found the Sirenetta restaurant/bathing establishment and stopped to eat fish. We basically went there for lunch all four days of our stay. Excellent fish, kind and helpful table staff. Highly recommended.
