An institution. The ideal place for an aperitivo, with a large choice of antipasti, local cheeses and cold meats, always at a very reasonable price. Every day from 8 p.m., the street comes alive and the bar fills up, mainly with local people.

This is a very special place and so many locals gravitate towards it because of the special atmosphere. We were surprised to find it because we associated Vermut with the Spanish/Catalan custom similar to aperitivo in Italy. But we found it to be a great place to have drinks and various interesting local snacks. I think some of the negative reviews probably come from confusion about the service and availability of tables. That's understandable because it can seem a bit chaotic and sometimes they have promised tables at one part to the many local Sicilians who wait in the street until they can be seated at a table across the street. (The staff manage both places at the same time.) Just ask if a table is available. Yes, the staff constantly get dragged away to do different things but we found them all to be kind and helpful, as well as speaking good English. This place is unique and, I think, absolutely exceptional.

The toasts were great, the service was great, everything was divine, I advise making a reservation because there is a waiting list. Excellent price quality and very cool people I would return

Una sera ci trovavamo nei dintorni e non sapevamo bene dove andare. Un amico ha avuto l'idea di mangiare al Vermut, un pasto veloce, magari una patata lessa con qualche fungo buttato lì a rendere tutto un po' gourmet. L'idea era eccellente, così una cameriera ci ha trovato un tavolo al volo, ci ha fornito dei menu assolutamente incomprensibili e dopo qualche domanda più che esplicativa sule pietanze descritte, abbiamo ordinato. E' arrivato tutto in breve tempo: patate, funghi, salsicce, birre e pagnotte. Sembrava una specie di picnic della domenica; il perfetto connubio di cucina povera e abilità gastronomiche di uno chef che sa il fatto suo. Così, in meno di un'ora, ci siamo trovati con una pancia piena, appena 10 euro in meno e la gradevole piacevolezza di sapere che a Catania esistono ancora posti così.

Ett otroligt ställe, genuint, autentiskt. Så mysigt med uteservering full av liv, kul och stökig inredning inomhus och öppet kök/deli där du ser hur personalen med glädje fixar och donar i full fart. Här blandas locals med turister. Kul meny med olika smårätter med italienska specialiteter. God mat, goda drinkar och mycket billigt i jämförelse med andra ställen trots hög kvalitet. Ett ställe jag gick tillbaka till flera gånger under min vistelse.
