Vecio Canal In Trieste

A place forever in my heart. When it seemed like all of Trieste was going to sleep, here we are at this place, where its Caldaia (heated water boiler) allowed us to spend an evening to remember. Special flavors and excellent beers. The kindness and smiles of the staff made us feel at ease. Highly recommended.

Excellent beer, truly delicious, very nice location, forgettable boiled meats, terrible service, wrong orders, incredibly long waits, even though there were few people. I'll go back for the beer, but not the food.

We came here in 2024 and revisited in 2025. Not much had changed. The food is hearty and well priced.The Lubjanska (*spelt badly) was really good. They do good German beers, including Oktoberfest beer. The othe half tried to drink them out of prosecco ,(two years in a row). The staff are helpful and friendly making it s pleasure to visit. Al Vecio Canal has got atmosphere but is so unpretentious that pretentiousness walks on the other side of the canal to avoid the place. It's a rock bar, kinda, with locals/regulars.

The usual ups and downs. First and second courses are okay, but the semifreddo is awful. The open-air location is great.
