I had lunch there on a Sunday and I have to say that the food and service are really excellent. From the appetizer to the dessert I found nothing that could go out of tune. Furthermore, we were given the opportunity to taste two/three first courses sharing them with the guests I had at the table. The chocolate and pear cake is excellent, absolutely worth trying.

Let me start by saying that we have been going to Usteria Pianèla for 3 winters to eat the Casseoula and that this review is to provide constructive feedback.
We would not like the victory of the associated festival last winter to have had a negative effect.
Unfortunately, Casseoula is a dish that is not always present and today, only for lunch, based on what we were told, was the last time before January 2025.
Nothing to say: it's good, but the accompanying polenta can definitely be improved.
We asked the waitress why it wasn't prepared more often and we were told that "...we really have a lot of demand but the Casseoula is prepared in January, when there is the festival, like all the restaurants in the area do".
We know that Casseoula is even better when the cabbage freezes but even this cooked in November could very well be proposed again in December and allow the restaurateur to differentiate himself, even more so if there is a lot of demand.
I would also recommend evaluating a different offer of red wines, the real Achilles' heel: on the menu there are a maximum of 6/7, not always all available, and not of excellent quality around €20/22 per bottle, without any barricades in list.
For example, an excellent Primitivo di Manduria "Notte Rossa" DOCG in barriques is sold at Esselunga for €6.30: surely the restaurateur would still have his mark-up and the customer would be much more satisfied, as also communicated to us by other diners in previous dinners.
Regarding today, unfortunately we had not been told on the phone that following their sixth anniversary we were forced to have a fixed menu and could only choose between two offers: one with Casseoula and the other with braised meat.
If you chose the Casseoula there was no starter but a single course and dessert, a slice of apple pie.
The owner was not present today and the service offered by the dining room staff seems less attentive than the previous year; after the Casseoula we then had to ask for dessert or it wouldn't have been brought to us.
The thoughtfulness of offering a small glass of grappa as an accompaniment to the Casseoula would have made the difference but we had to order it separately.
Bill for two: no appetizer, two Casseoula dishes, a bottle of non-barricaded PGI Tuscan wine of mediocre quality (cost €20), two slices of apple pie, two grappas and two coffees: €94.
€47 each for what was eaten and the service offered, is really too much.
We were disappointed and doubtful about returning.

Ottimo locale! Piatti squisiti, antipasto sciatt e bresaola di ottima qualità (sciatt x niente unti e bresaola nostrana), carne che si scioglieva in bocca e primi da urlo!! Ottimo anke il vino rosso della casa e i dolci!! Personale molto gentile e cordiale! Servizio veloce e il proprietario Alessandro squisito!! Ci torneremo per assaggiarlo altri piatti!! Locale straconsigliato

Super abundant cassoeula, well cooked ribs and cabbage...all not watery, lack of salami and few rinds. Among the lightest and best I've ever eaten

We ate well, good carbonara creamed well, good risotto, soft meat, well done. The only thing is a bit of a mess but it's ok for lunch.
We will definitely be back.
