We spent a lovely evening in this restaurant with quality food and perfect cooking. Chef Michelangelo is very good and he cooks with great passion and above all with love that explodes in all his dishes.

If necessary, I can also provide information in English. Today, I was invited by Seniorfood/CNR/ISPA to lunch at Upepidde, in Ruvo di Puglia. The origin of the restaurant's name is important to know because it is a guarantee in itself.
"The Only Exclusive Place for Individuals with Dual Needs" (i.e., eating and drinking well). Or, in the local dialect, "a small, well-kept thing/child." In any case, I had the pleasure of meeting the internationally renowned chef Michelangelo Sparapano (who was also very helpful in providing valuable tips on preparing Spaghetti all'assassina with Cardoncelli mushrooms). I'm not a chef, but I like eating and drinking well. But I took a cooking class and specialized in a single dish of traditional Bari cuisine: Spaghetti all'assassina). The location is enchanting. The structure appears to be set inside an ancient cave. In reality, however, the stone walls and vaults date back several centuries. In short, a very evocative location. The quality of the dishes is excellent. Local ingredients are used, with particular attention to wild mushrooms. Porcini and Cardoncelli mushrooms. I was enchanted by the wine cellar. Look at the photos and you'll see for yourself. Mario's service was attentive and impeccable. The photos I've attached don't do justice to the menu, as it was specially prepared for a delegation from the University of Warsaw. But I promise I'll send you more photos. Because this is one of those restaurants you'll return to for a lifetime. I can tell you that several national celebrities frequent Upepidde. Ask yourself a question...

I had the pleasure of having lunch at Upepidde with a group of seven friends. We left the table satisfied with the dishes served and the service provided.
We enjoyed local products prepared by a great chef like Michelangelo, whose skill and experience made you taste his way through every dish!
Also noteworthy is the attention to raw materials, freshness, and, above all, seasonality.
At Upepidde, you can find menus adapted to the seasonal products the Ruvo area offers.
Upepidde also has an impressive cellar housing a wide variety of wines from every vintage; Michelangelo and his staff were very kind in accompanying us on a short tour of this marvel.

I've been to U PEPIDDE, but unfortunately the experience wasn't the best. The service was far too fast: we were repeatedly asked to hurry up with our food, which made the meal less than relaxing. It's a shame, because the atmosphere could have been more pleasant with a little more attention to customer time.

Beautiful setting, very cold service and little attention paid. Good food but nothing special. I didn't find "love." Tagliolini with truffle and a little truffle tasted like buttered pasta to me, so I asked for a bit more truffle. The black one was tastier than the white one. Good wine, meat with porcini mushrooms was good but a bit stiff. The soufflé didn't have a soft center. If I were to return, I'd like more attention from the waiters and the dishes. They only paid attention to "acquaintances" at other tables—not good. As I travel around restaurants, I notice these details. So, it's something to be taken care of. It's important.

I've been to this place under the old management with a negative experience.
The new management has certainly made a commendable change in the kitchen, but in the first few dishes we didn't notice a significant improvement to justify the prices, which, unfortunately, aren't low.
Too bad.
