I've been frequenting this place for over a year and a half now, and I felt it was my duty to leave a review. I'm not a big fan of Japanese restaurants in Rome: too often, the sushi is "trendy" and there's little attention to the ingredients. Umami was the exception: the fish was always fresh, the dishes were carefully prepared, and the prices were fair. Service was fast and friendly; thanks to Davide for his courtesy and professionalism.

This is the second time my partner and I have enjoyed a wonderful dinner, made not only by the top-quality food but also by the always attentive and helpful staff. I should also add that this is where my partner recently proposed to me, and what can I say? From the owner who kindly took a surprise video of us to the waitress who was ready with music in the background and slightly dimmed lighting, Umami demonstrates quality and attentiveness even in love! I highly recommend it, not only for the impeccable gastronomic experience (and I'm quite demanding in that regard), but for the setting itself, from the atmosphere to the staff, which make it so much more than just a night out.

I'm not an expert on Japanese cuisine, but I like to experiment and I'm a devotee of a cuisine that relies on the quality of the ingredients and the professionalism of those who prepare it. In this restaurant, I found all of this, crowned by the genuine kindness and courtesy of the owner and waitress.

I had dinner in August with some friends.
The first thing I didn't like was the service. There were only two waiters who were forced to rush around, so they sometimes forgot things and didn't have a moment to spare. Even when ordering, you felt like you had to hurry because the waiter had to rush off to do something else.
The food didn't particularly impress me. We tried practically the entire menu because there were eight of us and we ordered a bit of everything, but the flavors were always very mixed. I didn't find the simplicity and delicacy of Japanese cuisine in any of the dishes.
Furthermore, everything was in very small portions.
Dinner cost €70, but I still left feeling unsatisfied and hungry.

We discovered it in the winter, when we were looking for ramen, and now we're rediscovering it for sushi and sashimi. Excellent quality products and always friendly and attentive service.
The only reason we don't go there more often is because it's quite far from home.

This was my second dinner at this delightful restaurant. The service and staff were professional and extremely courteous. The atmosphere was elegant and welcoming.
The food was superb: from the ramen to the gyoza, the tender meat, and a delicious sandwich with homemade bread (unfortunately, I don't remember the name). Many of the ingredients are certified organic and produced ethically and sustainably. The wine list is good. I highly recommend it!

Small restaurant in the Colli Albani area, high-level with open kitchen, helpful and kind Italian staff. Wide range of sushi and noodles, to which are added some delicacies from the daily menu. Perhaps more could be done on the beverage, perhaps by westernizing it a bit, but loyalty to tradition is in any case a good calling card.

Delicious Japanese trattoria! "If you're looking for quality rather than all you can eat, you're in the right place! Small but well-kept restaurant, with an open kitchen (which I love!). Better to book. Excellent food, there isn't a dish that I didn't like. Beers with wonderful labels. To go back several times, maybe on special occasions for those who need to watch the bill. Prices are a little higher than an AYCE, but the quality is really worth it. The only downside: parking is almost impossible. If you can, go by metro!"

Among the most authentic Japanese restaurants in Rome. Unagi is delicious, as are the ramen and the cotton cake. Very kind staff and attentive to customer requests, even the most complex. The price is also really convenient.

Delicious evening at Umami, the Japanese restaurant that won us over! We tried various specialties, from mazamen to tenzaru (cold soba is a real summer cure-all!), to Hibachi grill skewers of diaphragm and chicken. Everything was delicious, fresh and carefully presented. The atmosphere is relaxing, with pleasant background music, and even though the place was full we were able to have a peaceful conversation. The staff was exceptional, helpful and attentive. Excellent value for money too, around €40 per person for a full dinner. Absolutely worth a try!
