If you're craving truly fresh fish, avoid the touts in the city center and head to a small restaurant in a neighborhood a little outside of Bari Vecchia. It's a place frequented mainly by locals, and that's a strong recommendation in itself. We were in Bari for two days and went here for dinner every day. What can I say? The food was a dream. Everything—crudo, fritto, and pescato del giorno. Authentic cuisine, without unnecessary frills. And delicious! The service was unobtrusive but very friendly. The overall atmosphere of a family restaurant made me want to go back. The restaurant is small, so it's probably worth calling. We managed to get in without a reservation, but the place was packed.
