A very popular ice cream shop in the alley, but with shorter lines than those on the main street. In addition to the original flavors, they also have some extras like cheesecake and cremino. Overall, good. A two-flavor cone costs €3.

One of my favourite gelateria in Genova. In the heart of the historic centre, you can find really kind and friendly staff, which is not a given in Liguria. The flavours range from classic to unique - my favourites are pink pepper, rosemary, lemon and sage because I love the opportunity to try something innovative. And the ingredients speak for themselves. 10/10

Five-star gelato, one-star welcome.
I've been frequenting and recommending this gelato shop for years for the quality of its flavors and cones, which I consider truly excellent. However, during my last visit, the experience was ruined by an unexpectedly rude attitude from the person I presumed to be the owner.
When I politely and simply asked for a small taste of a new flavor, the response was no—which was legitimate—but accompanied by an annoyed tone and an inelegant reason: "If I were making this for 600 people..." Finally, with an annoyed expression, she gave me the sample, much to my embarrassment and that of my colleague (a tour guide who had approached her).
I understand company policies, but the way they're communicated makes the difference.
In even more renowned gelato shops (think of the award-winning ones in Varazze, for example), the owners themselves often offer tastings to help with the choice. A gesture that shows attention to the customer.
A real shame. An excellent product isn't enough if there's a lack of respect for those who enter.
