A historic trattoria in Sassari, serving traditional Sassari dishes, cooked in a homely manner. No frills, but authentic...

Our absolute favourite restaurant in Sassari! The family that runs and owns it is absolutely wonderful! And the grandmother in the kitchen makes the most authentic Sardinian dishes we have had on this island so far! It is extremely affordable and an absolute must if you’re in the area! Thank you to the ladies working here for such a memorable lunch experience 🙏🌷

Truly excellent food, friendly staff, fair and low prices (rare to find in a trattoria). It's our first time here, but we'll definitely be back!! PS: We were even able to bring our diabetic dog with us. 10👍

Visited by Anthony Bourdain, Ristorante Zia Forica is an old school, traditional Sardinian restaurant with a local following. They have a counter with a number of prepared dishes, and we had the Bombas (fried meatballs), Lumache (snails in tomato sauce), Favette (fava beans mixed with peas and herbs), and Eggplant Parmesan. From their selection of made-to-order dishes, we had the exotic horse steak, a flat grilled piece of horse meat; as well as the more typical grilled calamari. The Pane Frattau was a round of pane carasau (Sardinian flatbread) layered and baked with tomato sauce and pecorino cheese, and topped with a soft poached egg; and the Polpo alla Luciana was pieces of octopus stewed with olives in olive oil. Overall, the dishes were rather simple and a reflection of local Sardinian home cooking. My favorite items were the Bombas and Favette, and while everything was decent, the portion sizes were surprisingly small for the prices.

Excellent food, typical atmosphere, but the crowded place meant slow service. Unbeatable prices!
