I have eaten only once at The River Trattoria and was delighted by the experience. My wife and I went on a Saturday at lunch time. We were lucky we had reserved a table as the dining room was completely booked. It has the ambience of a typical Veneto trattoria. It is clean, open and cozy. It is easy to locate and although it is on a principal street, it is calm and without traffic noise, inside. The hostess/server is especially kind. The tables are well spaced to allow privacy and comfort. There was the main menu and a 'specials' board to select from. I love the fact the menu is short and easy to read. The selection is based on local seafood. It was easy to select the dishes. Although only about 3/4 of the seats were filled while we were there, the server was able to serve our drinks, food and coffee in perfect timing - as well as return a few times to check our progress and comfort. The ambience had quiet music, was clean, a comfortable temperature, no bad smells and not too much echo. It is somewhere between a typical trattoria and bistro atmosphere. I did not visit the washroom. There is enough room between tables to say it is wheelchair accessible. Even the entrance could be managed in a wheelchair, I think. Each dish looked and tasted perfect. My pasta sauce, the pasta and the variety plate of seafood we shared were cooked almost to perfection. The prices are competetive, even perhaps on the low side. Nothing was cold, too oily or tasted frozen. I also recommend their coffee, which is made with freshly ground beans. The servings were an appropriate size, and we left nothing on our plates. They don't list a variety of alcohols, but they had a couple of beers to chose from. The tablecloths and napkins were cloth and the silverware was clean, but a little worn. Paying the bill was fast and easy compared to some restaurants. There is no dedicated parking at the front, but at the same time, paring is easy to find. I don't know who their chef is, but they managed to prepare everyone's orders to perfection while we were there. We each had a pasta dish, shared a mixed grilled fish plate, had a bottle of water each, one bottle of beer and two espressos for just over €60 - this included cover charges for two people. They do have a nice selection of about six typical desserts all around €5 each, but we decided not to have any. For typical Veneto fish food, family atmosphere, reasonable prices and pleasant and fast service, this is about as good as it can be. The menu was only in Italian, and the sandwich board with chalk lettering was a little difficult to read, even after the hostess brought it closer to our table. I am not an expert, but I think almost 100 per cent of the seafood was local or at least Italian. I personally would go here for lunch or dinner. It is good for a business lunch, tourist lunch, small family, children, ... in general, for all situations. It is close to some good shopping for housewares and hardware across the street. I hope this review helps.
