On the outside wall, a plaque identifies the current restaurant as the birthplace of Antonio Ascari, an Alfa Romeo driver from the 1920s and father of the more famous Alberto Ascari, a Ferrari driver and world champion from the 1950s. It should be a typical restaurant, but in reality, except for a few dishes, it offers a rather banal menu. The tagliatelle with duck ragù is good, but the bigoli with sardines is less so. The fried "pessin e saltai" (fish and chips) is awful; the pizza is adequate. Prices are reasonable. On average, it would be two and a half stars... I was being generous.

The pizza was good, but a little burned on the edge, and there was too much oil on top, probably from the truffle cream.
The beer selection was rather limited.

A pleasant and welcome discovery, a restaurant that makes the simplicity of its menu its strong point.
The risotto alla pilota with ribs (the latter are EXTRAORDINARY) is excellent, as is the tagliata. All this at a truly reasonable price. One of the best restaurants I know for quality/price ratio!

Excellent restaurant where you can eat typical Mantua dishes (such as Risotto alla Pilota), and more. With a beautiful garden where you can eat outside in the summer.
