Typical Milanese restaurant, excellent cuisine and generous portions. The cutlet with potatoes was very good. The place is nice, but the rating isn't top-notch only because some of the tables are awkwardly positioned in front of the door, where it gets cold in the winter. I'll be back.

The Milan of yesteryear. Nowadays, unfortunately, it's a rare thing.

Rustic, pleasant, and informal atmosphere. Since the rooms are small and crowded, the room temperature is more than warm, almost suffocating. Even with the heat turned off, it remains too hot. The portions are generous, but the first courses are too buttery, and above all, there are few or no alternatives for those with butter or dairy intolerances. The cutlet is enormous and truly crispy, but perhaps a bit too much breading. Dessert, with panettone and cream, is overall very good. The wine is excellent, as are the coffee and grappa. The service needs improvement... Dessert was brought with cutlery, but no plates until I asked for them half an hour later. Overall, I'd say it's undersized for the volume of people in the restaurant.

If you're looking for authentic Milanese cuisine, Trattoria La Madonnina is the place to be. As soon as you enter, you feel a sense of home, with that authenticity that is increasingly rare in Milan.
We started with the Mondeghili: served in a pan, topped with a saffron mayonnaise that's out of this world. Truly unmissable!
Then, of course, the Cotoletta. We tried two versions (the classic Madonnina and the Veal Cutlet): crispy breading, tender meat, not at all greasy, and accompanied by perfect baked potatoes. The presentation on the "grandmother's" plates is also delicious.
The bill was very fair: for three people, including appetizers, main courses, wine, dessert, and coffee, we spent less than €35 each. Incredible value for money for Milan. We'll definitely be back!

We tried this restaurant on a Sunday for lunch with friends. It's a typical Milanese trattoria in a 1960s style. It's nice overall. The food is very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The only flaws: the tables were a bit crowded together, which created a bit of confusion (the waiters were also a bit rushed). We weren't notified, probably by mistake, of the double shift. So we showed up at the agreed-upon time (1 p.m.) and at 2:30 p.m. we had to leave the table to the second shift. Finally, the prices were slightly above average (two appetizer plates, four ossobuco with risotto, a liter of house wine, and a bottle of water, for just over €160).
In any case, it's worth a try; I don't recommend it for Sunday lunch.
