Generous plates for a good family meal

In the center of Catania, just steps from Via Etnea, I parked in front of this restaurant, where the smell of freshly grilled meat captivated me. I enjoyed an appetizer of grilled peppers and onions with raisins and almonds, a taste of my grandmother's time-honored flavors. The horse meatballs (hamburgers) were simply sublime, also grilled freshly. They melted in the mouth and had been roasted over a low heat to preserve the meat's juiciness and tenderness. Already full, I had a typical Catania dish prepared for me: the famous onion wrapped in a slice of bacon. The chef grilled it over a low heat so as not to burn the bacon and onion. The flavor is indescribable for its deliciousness and sweetness, but it's simply worth trying. The service needs improvement, but it's driven by passion and dedication. After all, the restaurant is family-run, and a few small mistakes are understandable. Comfortable outdoor setting. The tables are well-spaced and spacious. The interior is large and the tables are also well-spaced. At the next table, another guest had an all-vegetarian dish prepared, again grilled, of zucchini, eggplant, peppers, and onions, which I'll try next time. To finish, a magnificent lemon sorbet was a must. Excellent value. I recommend it and will return next time I'm in Catania.

Alfio is great!!! Excellent quality of meat, impeccable service from a typical local trattoria and the lady always very hospitable and friendly, like the rest of the staff!!!! Thank you very much again.

A few words about this place. Despite the bad reviews, we decided to give it a chance. And maybe the quality of service is not at the highest level and there are a few things that could be improved, but the food is really delicious, the prices are very attractive, and the owner puts his whole heart into grilling and your satisfaction. If you expect 5 stars, don't go, but if you don't have flies in your nose and can understand the Sicilian climate, come and enjoy what you get.

Ok è una trattoria alla buona, con le tovaglie semplici, e la griglia/brace in strada per la cottura a vista… dei passanti. Ma, nel suo genere, è sicuramente ad una spanna in più di tanti altri e quindi si merita i quattro pallini, anche se non è un locale raffinato o stellato. Del resto il sistema di punteggi di trip non consente di distinguere… I plus di questo locale? La gradevolezza dei piatti (soprattutto carne, la specialità), la convenienza dei prezzi in rapporto anche a porzioni generose, e l’accoglienza e la simpatia del personale. Io provo una grigliata mista di carne alla brace e un quartino di vino rosso. Con pane e coperto, spendo poco più di 15 euro. Consigliato
