A no-frills trattoria with a simple, home-cooked menu. A few dishes, but well-made and with that hint of Grandma's cooking. A simple, welcoming atmosphere, discreet yet always helpful and smiling service, and super-fair prices. A place to be treasured. If you're passing through Modena, it's an absolute must-try.

First courses: good. Dumplings: no. Cold cuts of poor quality. Donkey stew: bad, almost inedible. Desserts: good.

The restaurant is simple and has a rustic style that I appreciated, along with a welcoming atmosphere.
The service was prompt and precise, and the waiters were very courteous.
We had lunch with an appetizer of gnocco with cured meats, gramigna, and ricotta and spinach tortelloni, and everything was delicious. Each dish perfectly showcased the typical flavors of Emilian tradition.
The pasta is homemade, and this really makes a difference.
Finally, the price is below current market averages, which is truly appreciated.
Ultimately, recommended for those who want to savor typical Emilian dishes without the pretensions of a location and without spending a fortune.

We had a wonderful meal at this trattoria on the outskirts of Modena. If you want to try authentic local cuisine, homemade, come here. Everything was delicious, from the gnocco fritto to the tortellini to the meat. Extremely friendly staff. Prices are average.

How wonderful these places in Modena are, where the city still maintains its identity and avoids overcharging!
This trattoria has everything you need for an excellent dinner without spending a fortune.
Let's start with the dishes: we had an appetizer of gnocco fritto, tigelle, cured meats, lard, and cheese for €16, which we shared between two.
The whole time, we wondered if the owners had made a mistake, because it was so much and so delicious. But no, with this appetizer for two, you can eat a lot and even finish the meal.
We, however, continued with homemade tagliatelle with mushrooms and ragù, followed by a salad.
No wine, but all in all, it came to just over €50.
And I—always a sensitive stomach—despite being full, had a great time!
The place is warm and welcoming, and the staff is attentive, kind, and cheerful. Recommended!

I wanted to try Trattoria la Stalla, just outside the center of Modena.
It felt like entering an authentic place, a true local, with objectively questionable decor.
We started with excellent gnocco fritto, soft and flavorful. The tigelle were also crispy and hot. Among the best I've ever eaten. The accompanying cured meats were plentiful, not excellent quality, but decent.
The first courses were the highlight of the evening. The reason for the 5 stars.
The gramigna was amazing, truly abundant. It was drowned in a flavorful sausage ragù.
The tortellini were homemade, small, very cute, with a nice, rough texture.
The broth was flavorful and not overly low in fat. The cream, on the other hand, was balanced and with plenty of parmesan cheese added.
The donkey stew, on the other hand, was only half-hearted.
The zuppa inglese was very good, a perfect conclusion to a very good dinner, with prices that we found a bit high considering the setting.
If you can turn a blind eye to the place and listen only to your taste buds, you won't be disappointed.
