We went yesterday for lunch. The village is stunning: well-kept, full of paintings and wonderful, narrow alleys. As soon as you enter the dining room, you immediately feel at home: the glowing fireplace and the low vaulted ceiling immediately transport you to another, timeless dimension; it's impossible not to relax. The woman in the dining room was kind and knowledgeable; we had a great time with her. We also had the pleasure of chatting with the chef, who was extremely helpful and friendly. The food is very good and the quality is undoubtedly very high, thanks to authentic, locally sourced ingredients. The appetizers are very tasty and plentiful. I really appreciated the mixed appetizer, which included a selection of hot and cold dishes, because the hot appetizers arrive later, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the cold ones without worrying about the hot ones getting cold. The pinnacle of enjoyment was the guanciotto (my taste buds really went wild at that point). The meat literally melted in my mouth, and the flavor was so good I was almost sorry when it was finished. The dessert was delicious, too. What can I say? It was a wonderful experience, we'll definitely be back!

We tried the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by almost everything. The menu also features truly high-quality ingredients, from the classic trio of Piedmontese appetizers to the hearty, spicy, and well-balanced meat main courses. The wine list was adequate, and the service was top-notch. Highly recommended for a mountain experience in a truly picturesque village.

A truly wonderful discovery in a stunning village. The apartment was well-heated, welcoming, and spotlessly clean. We opted for half-board, and the food, traditional and homemade, was truly satisfying in a quintessential mountain setting. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. There was a problem with the TV, and to apologize for the inconvenience, they offered us an aperitif the next day. Highly recommended!

After a stroll around the village of Usseaux, my wife and I decided to stop for lunch. The veal with tuna sauce and chicken salad were delicious, the gnocchi with toma cheese were excellent, and, in my wife's opinion, the beef cheek was excellent. The desserts were delicious, especially the tiramisu. I thank the staff for their efficiency and courtesy. We'll definitely be back.

A wonderful experience. The view is stunning, and the property is stunning. The rooms are clean and truly lovely, located right in the middle of town. The value for money is excellent. Dinner was divine, with delicious food and generous portions. Breakfast was equally as good. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful. I highly recommend it! If I ever return to this area, I'll definitely stay here again.

A fantastic end to the year, a splendid location and a truly enjoyable experience, with extremely comfortable, warm, and inviting rooms, a spa, and impeccable staff.
An extra shout-out to Elisa, the owner, who, in addition to her professionalism, demonstrated great willingness in the past to grant us a vacation we booked but canceled the same day due to an unexpected car problem.
Thank you for everything, and goodbye!

We visited Usseaux on our way back from a few days of cross-country skiing in the upper valley.
The village is truly delightful and "alive," so well-kept, decorated throughout with murals and slates hanging on the walls (and even on the electrical panel doors of the houses!).
We booked lunch at the La Placette restaurant (which also serves as a "scattered" hotel) next to the church, and this review is about this establishment.
We were welcomed by a large red cat sleeping peacefully in the sun on the stone windowsill outside one of the restaurant's windows.
Once inside, we were seated in a large, ancient room with a low vaulted ceiling, typical of the times when heat needed to be conserved and not lost in the winter.
A beautiful log burned in the fireplace.
We ordered different courses, but naturally, I'll share my own.
First, I'll say that the portions are generous.
For the appetizer, we had "Occitan Salad," a simple yet flavorful dish made with beetroot (called "la biarava" in the Piedmontese dialect of the plains) and local potatoes, seasoned with light garlic and anchovies (the latter was sparse).
Certainly one of the few vegetables that grow at these altitudes, hence its uniqueness.
The first course was a spectacular and delicious dish of Usseaux potato gnocchi with fondue.
The gnocchi were truly well-made, soft yet firm (often one thing excludes the other), and the fondue was just right.
For the second course, we had stewed sausage with taragna polenta.
The sausage was excellent, tasty and not greasy: with the taragna polenta, which has its own unique natural creaminess, the combination was perfect.
I (we) had a problem with the dessert, which was clearly not a perfect success, but after a friendly discussion, the chef brilliantly resolved the situation.
For wine, a carafe of Dolcetto surprised us with its robustness. It seemed more like a Barbera...
We'll definitely be back, in warmer weather, to try the other dishes on the menu.
The price is fair, considering the quality of the offerings and the evocative beauty of the town.
